The camera cuts down
to the interview area, where Romeo is with Scott Cornelius.
Cornelius: Romeo, tonight you are in
a familiar situation. For the second time, your first World Title defense will
come against a man you know very well, Scythe. What are your thoughts?
Romeo: There's nothing
for me to worry about tonight. We all remember what happened to Scythe the last
time we wrestled, and there is no need to believe that it should change
tonight.
Cornelius: Uhhh, I hope you don't mind my interruption, but the last
time you two wrestled was in the PWA Title Tournament, and Scythe did pin you.
Romeo: I meant in the
title matches you dumbass! You know what I meant!
Matter of fact, this interview is over. Get the hell outta
my way before you end up the same way he will tonight!
Cornelius steps aside and Romeo
storms away.
Sevendust's "Trust" blares over the
PA system, sending the crowd into an eruption of cheers as Briggs appears at
the top of the stage. Ready to claimhis first PWA
gold, Briggs climbs into the ring and waits as Mannie
Fresh's "Real Big" takes over. A huge roar
of cheers comes for Jaguar, who arrives in a white, pinstriped New York Mets
Tom Seaver jersey over his Carrjack T-shirt and ring
tights. The former PWA Champion salutes all three sides of the crowd and throws
his arms into the air, sending his pyro shooting up behind the Prometheus
statue on the opposite side of the building. He walks down to the ring and high
fives Briggs before climbing up on the turnbuckles and accepting the adulation
from the fans.
White Zombie's "More Human Than Human" brings boos from the crowd as Justin
Schenck leads Alpha Omega down to the ring. Jaguar and Briggs pace in the ring
as Greg Price and Steve Beovich remove their title belts and hand them to Jason
Church. The champions climb into the ring and Church holds the belts up high
before calling for the bell.
* PWA TAG TEAM
CHAMPIONSHIP: ALPHA OMEGA (C) VS. JAGUAR & BRIGGS *
Referee: Jason Church
Jaguar opts to start for his team as
Beovich does the same for The Legacy's top tandem. They lock up and Beovich
uses his amateur background to get a quick go-behind, but Jag uses his power
advantage to grab on a side headlock and turn it into a takedown.
Both men are on the mat and Beovich
escapes with a head scissors. Jaguar forces out of it and both men reach their
feet quickly. Beovich tries a clothesline, but Jaguar ducks it and nails him
with one of his own for the first big collision in the contest.
Jaguar gets Beovich off the canvas
and hits him with a reverse knife-edge chop before Irish whipping him across
the ring. Beovich hits the ropes and Price hits him in the back for a blind
tag. Beovich returns and Jaguar sends him flying with a high back body drop.
Price runs in, but gets the same treatment as Jaguar flips him over as well.
Briggs yells for a tag and Jaguar gives him one to a nice pop from the crowd.
Alpha Omega gets up in unison, but
Briggs gets each with two straight punches to the jaw before grabbing their
heads and knocking them together with force. Beovich falls backwards through
the ropes and out of the ring, while Briggs grabs Price in a gorilla press.
Schenck helps Beovich up, but quickly runs aside as Briggs launches Price from
the ring to the outside, crashing into his partner! The crowd roars with
approval as The Legacy is reeling, but boos as Schenck gets his men up and they
begin to walk towards the back.
The booing becomes loud as Church's
count reaches 7, but it stops as Jaguar and Briggs leave the ring to bring the
champions back in it! Briggs and Jaguar use Alpha Omega as punching bags until
Jaguar knocks Beovich back out with a jumping side kick. Price rakes Briggs in
the eyes to gain an advantage, but it vanishes as Jaguar spins him around and
connects with Version 1.0 perfectly! He pops back up and points to Briggs,
knowing one move is left to seal the deal.
Briggs grabs Price in position for
his signature Sit-Out Powerbomb, but boos rain out as Darrin Giles and Jonathan
Brett speed down the aisle to jump him in the ring! Jaguar jumps in to stop it,
but The Legacy uses its strength in numbers to take both men down as Jason
Church calls for the bell!
* WINNERS VIA
DISQUALIFICATION: JAGUAR & BRIGGS; STILL TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: ALPHA OMEGA *
Cheers soon come out as Jaguar and
Briggs somehow manage to fight back. Brett tries to clothesline Jaguar, but he
ducks and Greg Price feels the brunt. Brett turns around and falls
victim to a major Carrjack, courtesy of its inventor. Briggs grabs Giles and
Price and crunches their skulls together before grabbing Schenck and tossing
him out of the ring!
The Legacy retreats back up the
aisle, but it doesn't take long for Solomon and Infernus to come in and
blindside them from the opposite end!
Infernus knees Jaguar in the back,
sending him through the ropes to the arena floor hard. Walter Gindin climbs out
of the crowd next, and the focus shifts to a beatdown
of Briggs. All three men stomp the big Canadian until Solomon calls them off
and waits for Briggs to rise.
Briggs reaches his feet slowly, and
Solomon smacks him in the face before hoisting him up onto his shoulders and
planting him with a monstrous Deep Freeze! Solomon covers him and Gindin gets
down on his knees to deliver a mock three count as boos come from all sides of
the building. Solomon makes sure to yell something inaudibly into Briggs' face
before getting up and leaving to tremendous amount of jeers from the
capacity crowd.
A video package airs on the
Jumbotron, highlighting the events that led us to tonight's confrontation
between Romeo and Scythe, with Da Playboi's
ORA Championship up for grabs.
The attention shifts back to the
ring, where Lee Palmer prepares to introduce the participants in the next title
match as
Palmer: The following
contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for The ORA World Heavyweight
Championship! Introducing first, the challenger, from Simi Valley, California,
weighing 255 pounds, he is The Modern Day Samurai, he is....Scyyyy-the!
The entrance is covered in thick
smoke, but the fans can definitely see Scythe standing atop the stage and they
shower him with cheers as he steps down and begins his walk to the ring.
Troy: In recent months, Scythe has twice come up just short in
bids to win The PWA Championship from Romeo at Requiem and Mike Griffin at
Symphony of Destruction. Can he get it done against Romeo for The ORA Title this evening Paul?
Ferrara: The last time they went at it, Romeo's Dre Day put Scythe
away. I don't see Scythe getting over the hump again if he can't avoid that move.
Scythe rolls into the ring and hops
up onto the turnbuckles to look out into the big crowd until three firecrackers
shoot into the air from the fountain and explode brilliantly in the air as B.G.'s "I Want It" takes over.
Palmer: And his opponent, representing The ORA, from Atlanta, Georgia,
weighing 263 pounds, he is The ORA Heavyweight Champion of the World, Da Playboi...Rooooo-meooooo!
Romeo arrives to a huge amount of
boos that he ignores as he walks down the stairs and to the ring. He climbs up
the ring steps and steps into the squared circle before handing his title belt
over to Jose Soares and nodding that it will return to him shortly.
* ORA WORLD
HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: ROMEO (C) VS. SCYTHE *
Referee: Jose Soares
The bell sounds and the crowd cheers
as both men circle the ring and lock up in the middle. Both men show their
power with a stalemate in the middle, but Scythe manages to go-behind before
dropping Romeo on his face with a leg trip. Scythe floats over and grabs Romeo
in a side headlock, and uses his weight to keep the champion grounded.
Troy: As long as
Scythe keeps this match on the mat, Romeo is at a big disadvantage.
Romeo pounds the mat in frustration,
but eventually does make it up to a vertical base. Two shots to the midsection
break the hold and Scythe is sent rumbling to the canvas after a running
shoulder block. Romeo grabs Scythe up by the hair and nails him with two big
overhand rights before a third fist sends him back down.
Romeo gets Scythe back up and rushes
him back into a corner before connecting with four shoulder thrusts to the
midsection and whipping him hard to the opposite end. Scythe staggers out,
holding his back, which is further damaged as Romeo hooks him up and drops him
with a vertical suplex. The champion covers for a two count before grabbing
Scythe in a tight rear chinlock.
Ferrara: This is
Romeo's game here, he slows the pace down and wears his opponent down with his
strength.
The fans cheer for Scythe's
impending escape from the hold, but Romeo keeps his grip tight. Scythe
shifts his body from side to side and eventually breaks the hold with a kick to
the bridge of the nose. Both men get up, but Scythe is turned inside out with a
major clothesline!
Romeo recovers and regains control of
the matchup by lifting Scythe off the mat and
dropping him back down with a scoop slam. Romeo then backs up and mounts the
middle turnbuckle before jumping off and connecting with a big splash into
Scythe's midsection! He covers again for one...two....and Scythe gets an arm up
before three!
Romeo looks over to Soares for a
faster count, but just shakes it off and adjusts his black bandana to signal
for The Dre Day Powerbomb. He grabs Scythe into position for the move and
hoists him up, but Scythe floats over and lands on his feet. Romeo turns
around, but Scythe lays him out with a superkick to
the jaw! Scythe makes a cover for one...two...and Romeo barely kicks out of it!
Both men reach their feet and begin
slugging it out, but this time Scythe is the aggressor. He battles Romeo back
with right hands and chops before whipping him to the ropes and ripping his
chest with a double hand chop! Romeo gets to his feet again and wobbles towards
Scythe, who grabs him by the neck and blasts him with The Flying Dragon Chokeslam! Instead of covering, Scythe gets up and looks
out to the crowd, who knows what is coming next.
Scythe drags Romeo over to the
corner, but the crowd is confused as The Iceman Jason Calysto runs down to
ringside and hops up on the ring apron!
Soares goes to tell him to get down,
just as Scythe begins his ascent. Calysto appears to deliberately shake the top
rope during his argument, but stops as Scythe slips from his perch and gets
straddled on the steel turnbuckle! Calysto then hops down from the apron and watches
as Scythe falls back into the ring next to Romeo.
Romeo begins to stir on the canvas
and sees Scythe clutching his groin in pain. He grabs Scythe by the legs and
stacks him up into a pin position, grabbing the second rope for extra unseen
leverage as Soares counts one....two....three. Boos erupt from the crowd as
"I Want It" replays and a slim smirk comes across the face of The
Iceman as Romeo is announced as the winner.
* WINNER VIA PINFALL
AND STILL ORA CHAMPION: ROMEO *
As the music plays, Bryan Conroy, F.
Anthony Annetta and Helen Summers run down to celebrate, ignoring Calysto as
they blow right by him. The ORA celebration is brief as Conroy demands for
Romeo to put Scythe away for good. Scythe is in no shape to fight back as Romeo
grabs him and finally plasters him with a spine-tingling Dre Day Powerbomb!
Calysto simply turns away and heads
to the back as the attack continues. Romeo prepares to deliver another Dre Day
Bomb, but Jaguar runs down from the back for the save. He is unarmed, but The
ORA decides to take no chances as they leave Scythe in the ring with Jaguar
standing over him. Jaguar and Romeo engage in a tense staredown
before the shot cuts away.
The crowd cheers as the Jumbotron
shows Traci Reed standing next to Greg Tantalus in The Rock Centre Cafe.
Reed: Greg, tonight
you are about to put the most coveted title shot there is on the line against
Jackie Baccaro. Your thoughts?
Tantalus: I know this
match is for the title shot, but that’s not what I'm thinking about right now
Traci. I'm thinking about being put on the shelf a few weeks ago by Jackie
Baccaro and Vulture. I'm thinking of being left laying on the beach in
Reed: Alright thanks
Greg. Back to you guys.
A video package airs on the
Jumbotron, highlighting the events that led us to tonight's confrontation
between Jackie Baccaro and Greg Tantalus, with the Everlasting Epic IV
guaranteed world title shot on the line.
Back at ringside, "Things Done
Changed" by Notorious BIG hits and the fans boo raucously as Jackie Baccaro
is led to the ring by Vulture.
Troy: Alright
ladies and gentlemen, this is it. This is what we have been waiting
for. Two nights from now, one of these two men will get to select a title
they wish to challenge for, and be rewarded with that shot on August 20 at
Everlasting Epic.
Ferrara: This
certainly should be a tremendous match,
Baccaro, looking perhaps more focused
than he has ever looked in his career, enters the ring as Vulture speaks some
final words of encouragement. Then, moments later, "Heaven's a
Lie" by Lacuna Coil thumps onto the speakers and the fans explode as
Greg Tantalus makes his way to the ring. Tantalus takes his time walking
down the
Troy: Alright,
it's on!
* GREG TANTALUS VS.
JACKIE BACCARO *
Referee: Tom Stevens
Tantalus and Baccaro immediately
lock up in the center of the ring, with Baccaro establishing the immediate
advantage, shoving Tantalus hard to the mat. Baccaro flexes for the
audience, who boos him vociferously. Vulture applauds him on the
outside. Tantalus then gets to his feet and locks up with Baccaro again,
this time taking him down with a hard armdrag, which
the fans cheer loudly. Tantalus then mock-flexes at
Baccaro, which the fans cheer as well. Baccaro gets up and charges
at Tantalus, but Tantalus counters into another hard armdrag.
Baccaro gets up again, and this time, Tantalus downs him with a hard
dropkick. The fans are cheering wildly, and Baccaro rolls out of the ring
and converses with Vulture on the outside. Tantalus plays to the crowd on
the outside while Baccaro and Vulture regroup.
Ferrara: I
didn't expect any less,
Baccaro feigns sliding into the
ring, but it is Vulture who actually does enter. Vulture taunts Tantalus,
who chases him out of the ring. However, as Tantalus chases him out, he
leaves his blindside open, and Baccaro enters the ring and attacks him,
clubbing him down violently. From there, Baccaro lets loose with a
furious array of stomps, keeping Tantalus grounded. With Tantalus down,
Baccaro sits on his back and applies a camel clutch hard.
Baccaro
locks the hold in tightly, refusing to let go, and Tantalus struggles
violently. The fans cheer him on immensely, but Tantalus is having a
major problem getting up. Finally, as Tantalus rides a burst of
adrenaline and looks to be getting closer to the ropes, Baccaro releases the
grip, jumps up, and crashes all his weight down on Tantalus' back.
Baccaro then lifts Tantalus up and whips him hard into the turnbuckles, causing
Tantalus to smack against them chest-first and fall back to the mat. With
Tantalus down, Baccaro bounces off the ropes and nails a punishing legdrop before going for the cover. One, two, and
Tantalus just narrowly kicks out. Baccaro lifts
Tantalus up again, and tosses him again into the corner, charging at him full
speed before crashing all his weight into him furiously. Tantalus
stumbles forward, but Baccaro lifts him up, hangs him across the top rope by
his feet, and DDT's him down, drilling his head hard into the canvas.
Baccaro goes for the cover... one,
two, thr-no! Tantalus barely escapes! The
fans cheer wildly, and Baccaro is frustrated, kicking the bottom rope.
Vulture jumps onto the apron, trying to calm his prized protege
down, telling him that he's got Tantalus right where he wants him, and that now
is the time to finish him off. The pep talk works, and Baccaro turns his
attention back to Tantalus, signalling for the
Baccaro Bomb.
Baccaro lifts Tantalus for the move,
but as he does, Tantalus is able to elbow his way out and surprise Baccaro with
a hard, furious spinebuster! Both men are down, and the fans begin
cheering wildly, trying to rally Tantalus back to his feet. The two reach
vertical bases at the same time, and begin slugging it out violently.
Baccaro stuns Tantalus first, and looks for the Bomb again, but Tantalus rolls
him up in a small package! One, two, and Baccaro kicks
out! Both men get up and Baccaro swings a clothesline, but Tantalus ducks
under, boots Baccaro in the stomach, and flattens him with a furious Big
O! Vulture is panicking on the outside as Tantalus quickly covers... one,
two, and Baccaro just narrowly gets his shoulder up!
Vulture breathes a huge sigh of
relief at that, but soon becomes nervous again as Tantalus scales the top rope
and dives off, connecting with Baccaro with a thunderous 450 splash!
Tantalus hooks the leg... but Vulture jumps onto the apron to distract the
official! Seeing this, Tantalus breaks the cover, gets up, and clocks
Vulture right in the jaw with a right hand, knocking him from the apron!
However, Baccaro is now up, and when Tantalus turns around, Baccaro lifts him
for the Baccaro Bomb... but Tantalus slips out and swiftly blasts him with the
G-Spot! Tantalus covers... one, two, three!
* WINNER VIA PINFALL:
GREG TANTALUS *
The fans explode in sheer jubilance
as "Heaven's a Lie" explodes onto the speakers and Greg Tantalus is
announced the winner. Baccaro quietly rolls out of the ring and retreats
up the steps with Vulture, heading back to the underground, as Tantalus stands
in the ring, fireworks shooting from beyond the Prometheus statue, in complete
victory.
