PWA
OVERDRIVE
San Antonio,
Texas
The PWA logo
flashes onto the screen before giving way to the closing moments of last week’s
Overdrive, where Solomon took part in a chilling attack on PWA commentator Rick
Madsen.
The Hot Boy$ exit to “We On Fire” but the music stops once Solomon
begins tearing up the ringside area. He angrily tosses Lee Palmer and the
timekeeper aside before taking a steel chair and bashing it against the
ringpost. PWA officials swarm out to the ring and try to calm him down, but
Solomon will have none of it, attacking anyone who came too close. Gindin helps
GI Jew up the ramp and Nick and Rick try to exit the announce table while the
uncontrollable Solomon’s back is turned. Solomon backs away from the officials,
right into Madsen, who is trying to escape. Madsen tries to back away, but
Solomon cries in rage and grabs the announcer on his shoulders before Deep
Freezing him through the table! A huge “holy shit” chant consumes the crowd and
Solomon exits as EMTs dart to ringside, as Overdrive closes with the image of
the motionless Rick Madsen on the ground.
“All My Life” by the Foo Fighters begins, accompanying the opening for
Overdrive as we are taken inside the barely year-old SBC Center in downtown San
Antonio, where a dazzling fireworks displays lights up the Overdrive set. The
fans cheer raucously as the camera passes by the rope-less squared circle and
to the announce table, where Nick Cade sits alone.
Cade: Hello everyone and welcome to PWA Overdrive! I’m Nick Cade, and
usually I’m here with my broadcast partner Rick Madsen. However, as you saw in
our opening, Rick was savagely attacked by that demon known as Solomon, and he
will be out indefinitely. Rick Madsen suffered head and neck injuries as well
as 2 cracked ribs due to the Deep Freeze through our table. I don’t mean to
editorialize, but Rick Madsen is a personal friend of mine, and it’s a damn
shame that he isn’t here because Solomon couldn’t control his anger. One day somebody
is going to give him exactly what is coming to him, I hope. PWA Owner Bryan
Conroy issued a $10,000 fine and 6-day suspension to Solomon this past Tuesday,
meaning his suspension will be lifted this upcoming Monday. But thank goodness
that that beast is not here tonight. Now that I’ve addressed that, its time for
our first-ever PWA Year-End Awards Show! Awards will be given out to
competitors in 13 different categories, a few of which have already been
awarded, but this will be an electric event, to say the least! I’m not used to
being out here alone, but let’s get on with the show!
Cade turns his head down to his monitor, but quickly snaps it up in
confusion once “Bounce” by Bon Jovi explodes through the PA system. The crowd
shares his sentiments as a young-looking man strolls down the aisle, with
rolled-up sleeves, sunglasses on his head and a half-empty Mountain Dew is his
hand. The apparent newcomer strides over to the announce table, shakes hands
with Cade and takes a seat.
Cade: I don’t mean to sound rude here, but who the hell are you?
Man: (Putting on his headset) I’m Justin Schenck, Nick, one of the new
voices around here in the PWA.
Cade: Aren’t you the color guy on our NYCW broadcasts?
Schenck: Not anymore. Bryan Conroy told me you needed a new partner out
here, so here I am! This is gonna be the start of a beautiful friendship Nick.
Nick: (Annoyed) Lets send things up to Tracie Reed and Scott Cornelius
for our first award of the night.
We are sent up to the ring, where Tracie Reed and Scott Cornelius are
standing at the podium set up in the ring.
Cornelius: Well Tracie, its time to present our first award of the
evening, the Rookie of the Year.
Steve Beovich –
Progressive and International Champion. Scored pay-per-view title wins over
Kerry Cox, Scott Hosemann and Loki
Solomon
– Undefeated superstar who debuted at the Symphony of Destruction and has
dominated the PWA ever since.
Paul
Dawkins – Notched pay-per-views wins over Don Cerrone and Chad Hasty and
Renegade. Led the charge to dismantle D-Unit.
Reaper
– One half of former tag team champions, the Lost Souls. Defeated the
Archangels, Kerry Cox & Scott Hosemann on pay-per-view and pinned Jason
Calysto on Frequency.
Allison
Kelly – First 2-time PWA Women’s Champion, scoring title wins over Kayne and
Jenny Ottati.
Cornelius: And
the winner is…The Omega Steve Beovich!
“More Human Than
Human” by White Zombie hits the speakers and Beovich arrives to his usual
negative reaction. The Omega is all smiles as he climbs up the ring steps and
to the podium, snatching the award from Cornelius and taking over the mic.
Beovich: Was
there any doubt? I told you all before that I was the end-all, be-all of this
industry, and this right here is only the start. I would like to thank no one
but myself of course, but looking ahead, I would also like to thank Scythe,
Mike Grieco and Paul Dawkins, who will follow their roles as stepping stones to
my greatness after I recapture my International title at Walking Wounded.
“More Human Than
Human” replays and Beovich heads back up the ramp, gloating to anyone within
earshot about the honor he just received.
Reed: Now that
that is over with, let’s move on to our Woman of the Year category.
Cornelius: Here
are the nominees.
Allison
Kelly - First 2-time PWA Women’s Champion, scoring title wins over Kayne and
Jenny Ottati.
Jade
– Dominated the Women’s title scene in 2002. First-ever PWA Women’s Champion,
winning a tournament final over Dee Licious.
Magnifica
– Returned from a lengthy absence to take a position of power in S.I.N. Scored
wins over Kayne, Jade and Jenny Ottati.
Kayne
– Returned to action in February of 2003, winning the Women’s title from Jade
in her first match to become the first woman to hold the PWA and CAW Women’s
Championships.
Dee
Licious – Defeated the dominant Jade to hand her her first PWA loss, and went
to the finals in the inaugural Women’s title tournament. Managed both Chad
Hasty and Mike Grieco.
Reed: And our winner
here is…Allison Kelly!
Eminem’s “White
America” booms through the speakers, and Kelly arrives to a favorable pop from
the crowd. The now 3-time Women’s Champion steps into the ring and shakes hands
with Scott and Tracie before grabbing her award at the podium.
Kelly: Not to
sound like the last guy out here, but was there any doubt? I have proven myself
to be the most dominant female in the history of this business, and as you can
see by this gold across my shoulder, I will continue to do so. We might as well
give me next year’s award so we can save time! But in all seriousness, thank
you very much and I look forward to putting the rest of these chicks in their
place anytime they try to take this belt away from me.
Cade: She sure
doesn’t lack any confidence does she?
Schenck: Sure
doesn’t, and that’s what makes her the best.
We are taken to
a hallway, where Steve Beovich is still gloating about his Rookie of the Year
victory. The Omega hoists the statue in front of as many faces as he can, until
he thrusts it into the face of Scythe. The International Champion doesn’t crack
a smile as he puts Beovich’s statue right in his chest.
Scythe: Sure are
proud of yourself huh?
Beovich: Damn
right I am. Out of the entire year, no rookie was as successful as I was, and I
have an award that says just that.
Scythe: Well
that’s all fine and good, but I’ve got something you don’t have, and that’s the
International Championship. As a matter of fact, didn’t I take this from you?
Beovich: Correction.
You stole it from me in that ladder match. But don’t worry, its cool. You can
hold it for a while, but don’t be shocked when I run through you, Dawkins and
Grieco to regain it. I’ll see you at Walking Wounded, just consider yourself
forewarned.
Beovich steps
right around Scythe and continues to gloat on the way, leaving a disgruntled
champion behind.

BREAK-
Segment 5 –
Ringside
Cade: Welcome
back to the first annual PWA Year End Awards! We have already seen Allison
Kelly become the Woman of the Year and Steve Beovich, as humble as ever when he
became the Rookie of the Year.
Schenck: Well up
right now is one of the weakest categories I’ve ever seen, most popular. What
is this, high school?
The Machine
Jason Calysto
Mike Griffin
Jaguar
Scythe
Cornelius: I’m
sure that this one came down to the wire, but the most popular superstar is
also the current PWA World Heavyweight Champion; give it up for The Impulse
Mike Griffin!
Tool’s
“Parabola” hits the speakers and Griffin emerges to a thunderous pop from the
crowd. The PWA Champion takes a few steps onto the ramp and thrusts his arms
high in the air, sparking a big fireworks display behind him before he makes
his way to the ring. Griffin shakes hands with Cornelius and kisses Tracie
before taking his award and holding both the statue and the title belt high for
all to see.
Griffin: First
and foremost, there’s only one reason I won this award and that is because of
all of you fans out there. (Loud cheers) Its good to be recognized this way,
but next year I’ll be back as the wrestler of the year. While I have this mic
time, I want to do something that isn’t quite the norm for any champion. Ever
since Everlasting Epic, where I won the World title clean as day, I’ve been
hearing that it was a fluke. There’s been crying and boo hoos all around, and
they all stem from one guy. That man’s name is Jason Calysto. Jay, if you think
Everlasting Epic was a fluke, I’ll be more than happy to defend this gold against
you this Tuesday on Frequency! Maybe you’ll shut up after I beat you again.
“Parabola”
replays and Griffin walks back up the ramp, slapping hands with as many fans as
he can.
Schenck: Griffin
challenging Calysto?! There is no way The Iceman is gonna turn that down!
Cade: I can’t
see Calysto turning that down either! What a match that would be!
Reed: Scott,
what better feeling is there then being able to work your way to the top of the
ranks, basically from the ground up?
Cornelius:
Besides already being there, I don’t know.
Reed: Well
anyway, these are the nominees for Most Improved Wrestler of the Year.
Scythe
– Former CAW Tag Team Champion blossomed into one of the most popular PWA
singles stars. Defeated Mike Tortorici on Frequency, Kerry Cox and Speed Demon
at Fallen Souls, and Loki at Hellbent to win his first singles title, the
International title. Also delivered record-breaking performance at the Symphony
of Destruction.
GI Jew – Went from hard-luck CAW mid-carder to the PWA Champion at Symphony of
Destruction. Became the first-ever Progressive Champion, defeating Kerry Cox
and the International Champion after pinning Scythe at Revival. First ever PWA
Triple Crown winner.
Romeo – Top caliber tag team specialist held 3 PWA Tag Team titles with Jaguar,
but also went on to dominate the Progressive division after winning it’s title
in the first match ever on Overdrive. Scored pinfall victories over Mike
Grieco, Vulture and Jaguar.
Steve Beovich - Progressive and International Champion. Scored pay-per-view
title wins over Kerry Cox, Scott Hosemann and Loki
Loki – Former FSW Tag Team Champion became first man to hold 3 different PWA
titles, winning the International title over Jon Dulberg at Walking Wounded,
the Tag Team titles at Revival over the Double Ds and the Progressive title at
Revival over former partner, Jon Sass.
Cornelius:
(Unwrapping opener) And the winner is...G.I. Jew!
“Refuse/Resist”
by Sepultura hits the sound system and Walter Gindin leads his client down the
ramp to a chorus of boos. Jew parks his Harley and steps into the ring as
Gindin takes the mic and the award.
Gindin: You know
Josh, its moments like this that made me want to be an agent. While I was
working alongside this man in CAW, I saw something that no one else saw in him.
I saw potential. I knew that this man could be a World champion one day and
that’s exactly what he became and will become again. My client has reserved his
acceptance speech for this award, because he is saving it for his upcoming
Wrestler of the Year award later this evening. Thank you.
Cade: Now how
does he know he’ll win it?
Schenck: He’s GI
Jew, how can he not?!
We are taken
backstage, where Mike Griffin is seen walking towards the exit. He nears the
backdoor, but he’s blocked by Jason Calysto, who steps right in front of him.
Calysto: Well,
well, well. Why you leaving so soon Mike?
Griffin: I’m
only up for one more award tonight, and that’s for tag team of the year with
you. Quite frankly, I don’t even want that one. So since I’ve won my award
already, I’m leaving early.
Calysto: You
know I heard what you said out there.
Griffin: I’m
glad you did. You have an answer yet?
Calysto: I had
it weeks ago, when you stole my belt from me in the first place. I’m glad your
guilty conscience has shown you the light. Earlier tonight, I won the Match of
the Year award, and on Tuesday, I’ll add to it by kicking your ass and
regaining my title.
Griffin: First
of all, you won that award for a match you lost against Vulture.
Calysto: Well I
can’t carry him and be as great as I usually am. I was hurt that night.
Griffin:
Correction. You got hurt that night. We’ll see how I fare against him at
Walking Wounded, that is, after you lose to me again on Frequency. I’ll catch
you later. Lace ‘em up tight Jay.
Calysto: (To
himself, as Griffin exits) We’ll see about that. I already told you once Mike.
I will win. I ALWAYS win.
Cade: Man, I can
feel the tension brewing already. This week’s Frequency will be a scorcher, no
doubt!
Schenck: Oh it
definitely will be. Calysto/Griffin, part 3 on Tuesday. Who could ask for
anything—
Schenck’s words
are cut off once “Hawaii Five-O” by the Ventures hits the speakers and Henry
Swanson’s arrival.
Schenck: Is
Henry Swanson on your program?
Cade: No he
isn’t. He’s not nominated for an award tonight. I wonder what he’s doing here.
Swanson: Alright
cut the music. What I have seen on this broadcast is a total sham! How can I,
Henry Swanson, not be up for an award tonight? I have the greatest segment in
the company, and I think its time I brought it to Overdrive. So San Antonio,
welcome to the Swan Song! (Crowd boos) I love you guys too. Anyway, I have
three, yes three, special guests this event. They are the newest triumvirate of
trouble, please welcome Jeff Knakal, Ryan Knakal and James Biamonte!
“2 of Amerikaz
Most Wanted” by Snoop Dogg and 2Pac hits the speakers, and the trio arrives to
a highly negative reaction.
Swanson: Welcome
gentlemen, welcome. You guys requested this time, and I promised to get it to
you, so whats on your minds?
Biamonte: Well
Henry, everyone has seemed to be asking us how we came to be a group lately. We
had Jeff underneath the mask as Spanish Fly and the return of Ryan Knakal, but
what does it all mean? Well, I’ll tell you. You see, Don Capriglione has been a
thorn in my side for a very, very long time, and to be frank about it, my last
group of associates couldn’t get the job done in helping me get rid of the guy.
So what I did was go out and get two proven veterans, guys I know I can trust,
and more importantly, guys that can get the job done.
J. Knakal: And
that’s exactly what we’re gonna do. For a whole year, I went underneath the
mask, losing match after match as the Spanish Fly. Needless to say, I was more
than willing to help out when James Biamonte gave us the call. It was the
perfect opportunity to make my mark around here and take care of business.
R. Knakal: Damn
right Jeff, but after talking about Don, another name comes up. A guy we know
extremely well, Jon Dulberg. Jon, I’m warning you now. Do not get involved with
the wrong crowd here. Just shut up and let us handle our business, because if
you don’t, losing that belt will be the least of your worries son.
Knakal hands the
mic back to Swanson, just as “Come With Me” by P. Diddy and Jimmy Page explodes
on the sounds system. Seconds later, Jon Dulberg and Don Capriglione rush to
the ring with steel chairs in hand!
Cade: Dulberg
and Capriglione are here!
All four men
scurry out of the ring and backpedal up the ramp as Dulberg and Capriglione
stand their ground inside the ring.

BREAK-
Segment 10 –
Tag Team of the Year
Hot
Boy$ - First ever 3-Time PWA Tag Team Champions, defeating Trinity and
Bodycount at Fallen Souls and TFU at Everlasting Epic and Frequency to become
champions.
Lost Souls – Longest reigning Tag Team Champions, defeating the Archangels at
Forsaken and losing them in May to Mike Griffin and Jason Calysto at Animosity.
Mike Griffin & Jason Calysto – Defeated the Lost Souls to win the Tag Team
Championship at Animosity.
Trinity & Bodycount – 2/3 of The Prophecy defeated the Hot Boy$ at Hellbent
to win the Tag Team Championship. Went undefeated as a team before dropping the
gold to them a month later at Fallen Souls.
Vulture & Greg Tantalus – Leaders of S.I.N. captured the gold in June at
the Symphony of Destruction. Defeated the Hot Boy$ and GI Jew and Justice.
Cornelius: This
is a very tough category. Who is the winner Tracie?
Reed:
(Unwrapping the envelope) The winner is the team of the Lost Souls!
Schenck: Whoa!
That’s a very unpopular decision here.
Cade: Well you
can’t take anything away from them, they were a top team here.
“A Violent
Reaction” by American Head Charge begins, and the Lost Souls arrive in tandem
to a huge array of boos. Reaper and Speed Demon crowd the podium and ominously
begin to speak.
Demon: This is
only the beginning. We have proven ourselves to be the best, and we will stop
at nothing to regain our titles. It doesn’t matter who we face, but when we get
our shot, it will be time to be welcomed to darkness.
Reaper: Enjoy.
“A Violent
Reaction” replays and the Lost Souls stalk their way back through the curtain,
leaving several confused and likely concerned fans in their wake.
As the Lost
Souls exit, the camera pans back to the ring, where Scott and Tracie are still
in the ring.
Reed: You know
Scott, besides being a reporter here, its great to be a fan also. And as a fan,
we have seen some very inspiring performances this past year.
Cornelius: We
definitely have, and someone will be awarded for it. Here are the nominees.
Jason
Calysto – Battled back from career-threatening injuries suffered in October to
defeat Mike Troha in a submission match at Salvation, Vulture at Requiem, and
Jaguar on Frequency to capture his second PWA Title.
Jaguar – Constantly fought through injuries suffered in March to win two PWA
World Championships.
GI Jew - Went from hard-luck CAW mid-carder to the PWA Champion at Symphony of
Destruction. Became the first-ever Progressive Champion, defeating Kerry Cox
and the International Champion after pinning Scythe at Revival. First ever PWA
Triple Crown winner.
Machine – Won and defended the PWA Championship frequently throughout a long
battle against Mike Tortorici that saw Machine’s brother attacked and his
girlfriend’s false pregnancy.
Kerry Cox – At the age of 43, became one of the PWA’s most popular stars,
capturing the Progressive and International Championships, as well as the
hearts of many.
“War Machine” by
Kiss begins, and Kerry Cox arrives to a standing ovation from the Texas
faithful. Cox walks up the steps and gets in the ring, hugging Scott and Tracie
before hoisting his trophy high in the air.
Cox: Wow.
Uh…this past year has been up and down for me. Sure, I’m 43 now and we all know
my career is winding down. I’m not sure I’ll be back to win this award again,
but after I beat Scott Hosemann at Walking Wounded to continue wrestling, maybe
I’ll be back after I complete my goal of becoming PWA Champion. Thanks again
for this, I love you all.
“War Machine”
hits again and Cox makes a victory lap around the ring before heading back up
the ramp. He gets about midway when Thursday’s “Understanding In A Car Crash”
takes over. Bryan Conroy receives a big pop of his own, but he stops Cox on the
ramp and raises his arm once again for the crowd before heading to the ring.
A camera is now
backstage, in the Hot Boy$ dressing room, where Romeo is packing his bag.
Jaguar: Yo, what
you doin’ cuz?
Romeo: I’m about
to bounce outta here.
Jaguar: What
for, the show ain’t over yet.
Romeo: I know,
but my last nomination was for Tag Team of the Year and we didn’t win it, so I
gotta go. Last time I was here in Texas, I met some smiff named Nicole. She say
she wanna meet me on the Riverwalk here in San Antonio, so I’m out. I told her
to bring a friend, you should come out too bro.
Jaguar: I’ll
meet up with you. I still got my last nomination, for Wrestler of the Year
next.
Romeo: Alright,
call me when you get out and I’ll meet you on the Riverwalk.
Jaguar: Bet.
Romeo exits as
Jaguar reaches for the popcorn and the upcoming announcement.
-COMMERCIAL

Segment 13 –
Wrestler of the Year
Cade: We’re back
here ringside for the final award of the night, Wrestler of the Year.
Schenck: And
Bryan Conroy has taken over the podium to announce the winner it seems.
Conroy: First
off, I’d like to thank you San Antonio for making this such a great event.
(Fans cheer) It is my privilege to announce our first ever PWA Wrestler of the
Year. We have had several tremendous superstars here in our first year that
have given us many unforgettable moments and matches that create the stuff
legends are made of, but the Wrestler of the Year is our MVP. Here are the nominees.
Jason Calysto – First ever PWA Champion unified the belt with the CAW and FSW
Titles in a win over Mike Griffin. Also Battled back from career-threatening
injuries suffered in October to defeat Mike Troha in a submission match at
Salvation, Vulture at Requiem, and Jaguar on Frequency to capture his second
PWA Title.
The Machine – Longest reigning PWA Champion won the gold after defeating
Trinity on Frequency. Scored pay-per-view wins over Speed Demon, Scott
Hosemann, Mike Troha, Trinity, and Mike Tortorici in a memorable Hell In A Cell
match.
Jaguar
– Captured the PWA Championship 3 times before anyone else reached 2 times.
Also won 3 PWA Tag Team Titles. Scored pay-per-view wins over The Prophecy,
Vulture, Greg Tantalus, GI Jew, Jason Calysto and TFU.
Greg Tantalus – 2-time Tag title holder bounced back from the split of TFU to
defeat Mike Griffin at Forsaken and beat The Machine for the PWA Championship
at Requiem. Won the Tag Team belts with Griffin against the Hot Boy$ and teamed
with Vulture to upend Griffin and Jason Calysto for the belts at Symphony of
Destruction.
Conroy:
Alright guys, this is it. The first ever PWA Wrestler of the Year is none other
than…Jaguar.
“I Got That
Fire” by Juvenile and Manny Fresh hits, and the SBC Center comes unglued once
Jaguar emerges through the curtain! The former PWA Champion points out to the
crowd and poses in front of his exploding fireworks show before climbing the
steps into the ring. Jaguar kisses Tracie before shaking hands with both
Cornelius and Conroy. Jaguar scoops up the statue and Conroy holds his arm high
before leaving the ring for his speech.
Jaguar: What up
San Antonio? (Crowd cheers raucously) I don’t have any speech prepared, but I
do have a few people I wanna thank. First of all, my main man Romeo. He’s the
man that really led us to 3, now 4, tag team titles here and really makes this
team fun. Second, I want to thank Bryan Conroy for signing me after CAW folded.
This opportunity wouldn’t be possible without him either. My ladies Kayne and
Camieko, I can’t forget ya’ll either. All the boys in the back, Scythe, Kerry
Cox, Machine, the list goes on and on. But what would this be without the fans?
Thank all of you for keeping me going out there. I’m looking to get that PWA
Title back sooner than later, but it’s been my pleasure to entertain you all.
Thank you again people for letting me be myself and have fun, I’ll holla.
Jaguar lifts the
award again, but puts it back down once “Refuse/Resist” by Sepultura replays
and GI Jew steps out with a microphone, and with Walter Gindin not far behind.
Jew: I cannot
believe this crap! I become the first ever Triple Crown winner here and I’m not
the MVP?!
Jaguar: Maybe
you would have won if you beat me like I beat you twice.
Jew: You weren’t
saying that when I bitched you out in the cage, were you?
Jaguar: And you
weren’t saying that when I tore your chest up either, were you?
Jew: James, I am
sick and tired of you stealing things from me. I beat you for the belt and you
still found a way to weasel it away from me. You stole food off my plate son,
so now its time for me to take something else from you. I want a shot at the
Tag Team belts for me and Solomon.
Jaguar: You got
it. Anytime and anyplace.
Jew: No, I don’t
want you just giving it to us. We don’t need your charity. We’ll earn our shot.
How about you and Solomon on Tuesday? If he wins, we get our shot?
Jaguar: Fine by
me. Maybe you’ll still get it after I heat his frozen ass up.
Jew: Really?
Maybe he’ll freeze you right now bitch.
Jaguar turns
around to find Solomon, who rushed through the crowd! Solomon kicks Jaguar in
the gut before hoisting him on his shoulders and destroying him with an effortless
Deep Freeze!
Cade: Solomon is
suspended! He isn’t supposed to be here!
Schenck: After
seeing what he did to Rick last week, neither am I! (Takes off his headset and
runs)
Cade: Solomon
has just taken Jaguar clean out! Will he even be able to compete on Frequency?!
“Cold Under
Water” by Darkseed booms through the speakers and Solomon places the award on
Jaguar’s chest before going up the ramp and raising his arm high with Jew and
Gindin as Overdrive ends.
