PWA
OVERDRIVE

Broome County Arena

Binghamton, NY

June 28, 2003

The PWA logo flashes onto the screen before fading away into screen shots of the last edition of PWA Frequency, where the collective unit of S.I.N. capitalized on interference from Mike Tortorici to defeat the quartet of Scythe, Loki, Mike Griffin, and The Machine. After Speed Demon scored a pinfall over The Machine, Tortorici spoke these chilling words:

Tortorici:  How much would you say this lead pipe weighs, Machine?  A good ten pounds or so?  Is that a good estimate?

The crowd is chilled just by Tortorici's tone alone.

Tortorici:  Well...Just wait until July 5th...because on that night...at Meltdown...you'll be feeling a good ten tons of steel...as you suffer my wrath...in Hell...in a Cell!

The opening for Overdrive follows and with “All My Life” by the Foo Fighters playing, we are taken inside Binghamton’s Broome County Arena as an incredible pyrotechnic display brightens the building.

Cade: Hello fans and welcome to PWA Overdrive! I’m Nick Cade alongside Rick Madsen, and I’ve got only four words for you Rick: Hell In A Cell!

Madsen: How intense those four words are Nick. The last time we were here in Binghamton was in March, and we were just a short time away from Mike Tortorici taking on The Machine at Revival. A few months later, we are back here in Binghamton and those two are set to wage war in the ultimate battleground, the infamous cell!

Cade: We have much more on that and the Meltdown card later in the broadcast, and Loki will take on Reaper in tonight’s main event, but lets get to the ring for our opening match!

Segment 1, Match 1 – Joe Malone vs. Mike Grieco w/ Dee Licious

Referee: Dan Martin

“P.I.M.P.” by 50 Cent hits the speakers and ring announcer Lee Palmer begins to speak over the growing amount of jeers from the crowd.

Palmer: The opening contest is scheduled for one fall! First, being accompanied by Dee Licious, from Staten Island, New York, weighing 248 pounds, Mike Grieeeee-co! And his opponent, already in the ring from Sherman, Illinois, Joe Malone!

Grieco and Dee arrive to a hateful reaction from the fans, no doubt as fallout of their actions on last Tuesday’s Frequency in which Grieco assaulted Camieko.

Cade: What these two pulled off on Frequency made me sick to my stomach!

Madsen: You know I’m all about having fun out here Nick, but what we saw on Tuesday with Grieco powerbombing Camieko, that wasn’t fun at all. Grieco is one of my favorite guys, but that was absolutely deplorable.

Grieco climbs in the ring and Malone attacks right as the bell sounds. The crowd gets behind the youngster as he backs Grieco up with stiff left fists. Malone Irish whips Grieco, but it’s reversed and Grieco connects with a big belly-to-belly suplex!

Cade: What impact on that suplex!

Madsen: Grieco always manages to get tremendous rotation on those suplexes. He knows how to deliver them better than just about anyone.

Grieco peels Malone from the canvas and tosses him into a corner. Grieco charges at him, but Malone thrusts a boot in his face! Grieco stumbles around until Malone grabs him in a front facelock and swings out of the corner with a Tornado DDT! Malone covers and Martin counts 1----2----and Grieco kicks out!

Cade: Hey, this kid has a chance to win this thing.

Madsen: Well Grieco is reeling, but he’s a veteran. He can find a way out of this.

Malone gets off of Grieco only to find Dee Licious standing on the ring apron, enchanting the youngster with her sexy looks. Malone is drawn to her like a kid to a candy store and Dee drapes her arms over his shoulders as Grieco gets to his feet. Grieco takes a signal from Dee and charges, but Malone moves out of the way! Grieco stops just short of barreling into Dee, but as she climbs down he turns right into a huge spear from Malone! Malone covers again for one…two…and Grieco kicks out again!

Cade: Oh, that was so close! Grieco is in trouble!

The crowd is now solidly behind Malone as he climbs up to the top turnbuckle. Grieco staggers to his feet and Malone jumps off, but Grieco takes a step back to catch him and nail another belly-to-belly! Grieco has an angry look on his face, seemingly embarrassed by Malone’s success, but that luck runs out as Grieco sets Malone up and drills him with a double powerbomb for 1,2,3!

Madsen: That’s what I meant Nick. Grieco didn’t panic and that is what enabled him to win this match after that bad start.

Cade: Well no matter what, Joe Malone gave it a helluva shot against him.

Winner via pinfall at 5:05 – Mike Grieco

Segment 2 – Ringside

With “P.I.M.P.” replaying and Grieco and Dee still in the ring, the arena comes alive when Romeo’s image pops onto the Jumbotron!

Romeo: Well hey guys! Whats goin’ on? Hey Grieco, that was some win you just got man. I would have loved to see it live, but Bryan Conroy barred me from the building tonight. Oh, I didn’t do anything wrong, (getting a serious look on his face) it was to keep me from killing you there in Binghamton! (Crowd cheers) You see, Bryan and I had a long conversation. He watched what you did to Camieko on Frequency and he knew that I would kill you if I were there. So I’m here in Atlanta at home waiting until I see you again.

Grieco: (Short of breath) Tough talk for a guy who is 1,000 miles away. Camieko had it coming to her. You mess with Dee; you mess with me. She found out the hard way.

Romeo: Mess with Dee? Look cuz, most guys spend their time making a mess ON Dee! (Crowd cheers again)

Madsen: Did he just say what I think he said?!

Cade: I think so!

Grieco: You take that back punk!

Romeo: Look, Conroy proposed that you and I have a match at Meltdown. I know what everyone is thinking, but I said no. I don’t want a match with you.

Grieco: I thought you didn’t. You’d only get what Camieko got kid.

Romeo: Really? I told Bryan I didn’t want a match with you for one reason, I want a fight instead! And it’s a fight I’m gonna get next week at Meltdown!

Grieco: You wanna fight me? You got it!

Romeo: I know I do Grieco! Oh yeah, one more thing. That fight….its gonna be Falls Count Anywhere! See you in Philly bitch!

“Magic Stick” by 50 Cent and Lil’ Kim plays as the screen fades out, leaving a worried Dee and Grieco inside the ring.

Segment 3 – Backstage

A camera is fixated in a hallway backstage, where we see Kayne leave the office of Bryan Conroy wearing a huge grin on her face and seemingly heading towards the ring.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Segment 4 – Ringside

“Who’s That Girl” by the Ruff Ryders’ First Lady, Eve, hits the PA system, and Kayne makes her way to the ring amidst a rousing pop from the crowd. The former Women’s Champion climbs into the ring and grabs the microphone from Palmer at ringside.

Kayne: Megan Lovato! I know I called you out on Frequency last Tuesday, but I just had a talk with Bryan Conroy and he scratched that match from Frequency so we can have it tonight. You see Megan, I’m tired of waiting. I’m ready to do this right here and right now, and I’m not going anywhere until you get out here!

Cade: Is Kayne holding the show hostage tonight?

Madsen: She might be, but I’d watch her all night in there Nick!

Segment 5 – Backstage

We are taken to the locker room of Megan Lovato and Allison Kelly, where both women seem taken aback by the fiery Philly native.

Kelly: Did you hear that?

Lovato: (Standing up) I sure did. This broad wants to call me out?! I’m going to go beat her ass!

Kelly: Whoa Meg. Kayne is probably the toughest opponent I’ve had here. You want me out there?

Lovato: No need. I’ll be fine. You just sit back and enjoy this show I’m about to put on.

Kelly: Alright.

Megan exits the room for the ring, and Kelly shakes her head in amazement of Lovato’s spunk.

Segment 6 – Backstage

As Megan heads to the ring, our cameras catch up with Tracie Reed, who is chasing after Mike Grieco and Dee Licious. Reed attempts to ask the pair about the challenge issued by Romeo, but they simply ignore her and slam their dressing room door before she can reach them.

Segment 7, Match 2 – Megan Lovato vs. Kayne

Referee: Jose Soares

As Tool’s “Sober” begins to play, a jeer-filled reaction greets Megan Lovato on her way to the ring. Referee Jose Soares scurries out behind her and calls for the bell as the ladies begin to tear into one another.

Cade: Ever since Megan Lovato pinned Kayne in a tag match a few weeks ago, Kayne has been chomping at the bit for this one-on-one match.

Madsen: Kayne is still the only woman to hold the CAW and PWA Women’s titles, but that doesn’t seem to worry Megan at all. She’s quite a fireball!

Both women collide and tackle one another to the ground, with Kayne establishing the advantage. She pounds Lovato’s head into the mat until Soares manages to pry her off. Both ladies reach their feet and Kayne shoves the official aside. She charges Megan, but she gets a stiff clothesline for her troubles!

Madsen: What a clothesline by Megan!

Cade: Megan definitely isn’t a slouch in her own right. She held the NYCW Women’s title in New York for a period of time.

Lovato picks Kayne up by the hair and scoop slams her down to the mat. She follows up with a leg drop and a cover for 1---2---and a kickout! The crowd begins to get behind the former champion as Lovato drags her to her feet. Megan hooks Kayne up for a suplex, but Kayne slips behind her and bulldogs her to the ground!

Megan struggles to get up, but Kayne aggressively kicks her in the stomach and spins her to the mat with the Overdrive! Kayne makes a cover and hooks the near leg for one…two…three!

Cade: Just like that, this one is over!

Madsen: Kayne took advantage of Megan’s rookie mistakes tonight and they paid off.

“Who’s That Girl” replays and Kayne leaves vindicated with another win under her belt.

Winner via pinfall at 3:08 - Kayne

Segment 8 – Backstage

We are taken backstage to the interview area, where Tracie Reed is standing by with Loki.

Reed: Loki, earlier this morning you issued a challenge to S.I.N., which was answered by Reaper. With that match just moments away, what are your thoughts?

Loki: Well Tracie, I’m glad that Reaper accepted the challenge. It was designed for him to be the guy that I faced tonight. As you have seen in recent weeks, he’s been quite a thorn in my side and I need to get that taken care of.

Reed: Well next week at Meltdown, you will face Reaper once more in a six-man tag match. Are you looking to gain momentum for that match as well?

Loki: I guess so, but that match is next week. I’m only focusing on tonight, and if I do what I plan on doing tonight, Reaper might not even make it to Meltdown if you know what I mean.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Segment 9 – Ringside

Cade: Like we mentioned at the top of the hour, we are just one week away from the big Hell In A Cell encounter between The Machine and Mike Tortorici at Meltdown.

Madsen: While that match is going to be a career shortening one, I’m looking forward to the big PWA Championship match. GI Jew has to defend the title against BOTH Jaguar and the Iceman Jason Calysto in a triple threat match! He doesn’t even have to be pinned to lose the belt!

Cade: That will be interesting because Jaguar has an opportunity to become a 3-time PWA Champion before anyone else has even reached 2, but there we have 2 new matches to announce to you fans. The first was seen earlier, when Romeo challenged Mike Grieco to a no holds barred, falls count anywhere street fight!

Madsen: And the other is one that is long awaited by the masses. Scythe will go head-to-head with the Smooth One himself, Greg Tantalus!

Cade: Here is the rundown for the major card ahead of us next week:

PWA World Heavyweight Championship: Triple Threat Match – Jason Calysto vs. GI Jew © vs. Jaguar

PWA International Championship: The Omega Steve Beovich © vs. Superstar Scott Hosemann

PWA Progressive Championship: 2 out of 3 falls – Infernus © vs. Tim Dand

Hell In A Cell Match: The Machine vs. Mike Tortorici

Falls Count Anywhere Street Fight: Mike Grieco w/ Dee Licious vs. Romeo

6-man Tag Team Match: Loki, Mike Griffin and a Mystery Partner vs. The Lost Souls and Vulture

Smooth Greg Tantalus vs. Scythe

Kerry Cox vs. Solomon

Brokensoul Jon Brett vs. The Miracle Mike Troha w/ Daredevyl

Cade: Now while Meltdown is just one week away, this upcoming week marks one of the most important events in the history of the Progressive Wrestling Alliance because this Thursday morning, tickets will go on sale for Everlasting Epic II!

Madsen: All the big stars will be there for that Nick. I’m talking The Machine, Scythe, Jaguar, Romeo, Mike Troha, Michelle, Paul Ferrara, Scott Hosemann, Jason Calysto, Allison Kelly, Tracie Reed and yours truly! It’s the biggest meet-and-greet session ever1

Cade: If you are in the New Orleans area, head on down to the Superdome to meet all your favorite PWA stars starting at 10AM Central Standard Time! If you can’t make it, head over to a Ticketmaster outlet and get your tickets while you still can!

Segment 10, Match 3 – Reaper vs. Loki

Referee: Matt Hansen

“Edge of The Earth” by 30 Seconds to Mars hits the PA system, sparking a huge fan pop as Lee Palmer begins to speak.

Palmer: The next contest is scheduled for one fall! First, making his way to the ring from Los Angeles, California, weighing 255 pounds, Looooo-ki!

Loki soaks up the adulation of his fans and poses on the middle turnbuckles after he enters the ring. The crowd noise makes a complete 180-degree turn once the lights go out and “A Violent Reaction” by American Head Charge takes over.

Palmer: And his opponent, representing S.I.N. and weighing 245 pounds, he is one half of the Lost Souls…Reaper!

Reaper arrives alone to a cascade of boos, but looks all business as he enters the ring.

Cade: I’m surprised to see Reaper alone out here tonight.

Madsen: Well he wanted to take the challenge more than anyone else in S.I.N., so I guess they didn’t feel a need to be here. This will be a breeze for Reaper anyway.

The bell sounds and Reaper opts to start things off with a big right hand. A surprised Loki receives another, but blocks a third to counter with a right of his own. Loki backs Reaper to the ropes and Irish whips him, but Reaper reverses it to floor Loki with a reverse elbow on his return. Reaper makes a quick cover, but gets just a one count.

Reaper lifts Loki up and plants a knee in his chest before suplexing him back down to the canvas. Reaper then positions himself on the middle turnbuckle and scores with an elbow to chest! Reaper covers again, this time for 1---2---and Loki kicks out again!

Cade: Loki is a very resilient guy. Its gonna take more than that to beat him.

Madsen: It definitely will, but Reaper is on the right track by wearing him down right now.

Reaper keeps the pace slow by applying a deep rear chinlock. Loki struggles in the hold and Reaper keeps it on by holding his 245 pound-frame atop his opponent. The crowd begins to raise the decibel level until the entire Broome County Arena is behind Loki. The California native gets to his feet and Reaper tightens his grip until Loki breaks it with a back suplex!

Both men get up and Loki has a clear advantage, peppering Reaper with hard right hands. Loki bounces Reaper off the ropes and scores with a high back body drop! Reaper gets back up and Loki kicks him in the stomach and nails the Penance DDT! Loki covers for 1----2----and Reaper gets a shoulder up! Loki gets to his feet and looks out at the crowd before signaling for the Atheist superkick!

Cade: Loki is going for the superkick!

Madsen: As much as I like Reaper, its over if Loki nails this.

Loki waits for Reaper to get up and when he does, he thrusts the boot, but Reaper catches his foot! Loki hops around until he swings an enziguri kick, but Reaper ducks it! Loki gets up and Reaper kicks him in the gut and turns him upside down for the Passed Judgment Piledriver!

Cade: Loki is going for the ride!

Madsen: Tombstone him Reaper!

Reaper struggles with his balance; which allows Loki to grab the top rope. Reaper looks to plant him, but Loki’s grip enables him to escape and fall behind Reaper. Before Reaper knows what happened, he is in Loki’s clutches as he’s downed with the Morning Star! Loki covers and hooks the far leg for one…two…three!

Cade: What a win by Loki!

Madsen: I’ve gotta hand it to the guy; he earned this one.

Cade: Will we see more of the same in that six-man tag? We’ll find out next week in Philly!

Winner via pinfall at 6:31 - Loki
