PWA
OVERDRIVE

Performing Arts Center

Topeka, Kansas

Saturday May 3, 2003

The PWA logo flashes onto the screen before fading away into clips from last Tuesday’s edition of Frequency, including Jaguar being attacked by GI Jew and Greg Tantalus, Scythe’s defeat of Mike Tortorici, and the return of The Machine. The Foo Fighters’ Grammy-winning “All My Life” begins and the opening for Overdrive airs before a beautiful fireworks display illuminates the Performing Arts Center. The camera then focuses on our commentators for the evening.

Cade: Hello everyone and welcome to PWA Overdrive! I’m Nick Cade, here with Rick Madsen, and if I could describe tonight’s broadcast in one word, it would be “intriguing”.

Madsen: I would agree with that Nick. We don’t know too much about whats in store tonight, except that “The Miracle” Mike Troha has issued an open challenge to the entire locker room!

Cade: He sure has, and that has yet to be answered, but we will also see the ladies in action as Jade and Michelle team up to face Jenny Ottati and Kayne!

Madsen: I can’t wait for that one. I’m a big fan of all four, for ahem…personal reasons.

Cade: Oh grow up Rick. Lets go to the ring for our first matchup.

Segment 1, Match 1 – Kerry Cox vs. Justice

Referee: Dan Martin

A warm pop sets the stage for the arrival of Kerry Cox, shortly after Kiss’ “War Machine” begins. The “Hardcore Icon” looks to be in good shape and ready for action as he bounces off the ring ropes in wait for his opponent. The Urban Assault Vehicle version of “Rollin’” by Limp Bizkit, DMX, Redman and Method Man begins and boos creep in for Justice and “Superagent” Walter Gindin as they walk to the ring.

Madsen: This should be a good match. I’m very impressed with Justice.

Cade: Well, Justice is 6’6” and weighs about 280 pounds; he’ll be a handful for Kerry Cox even though the injured GI Jew is not in attendance tonight.

Madsen: Yeah, he’s rehabbing his torn pectoral, but I’m sure he is watching.

The bell sounds and both competitors lock up in the center of the ring. Justice displays his strength by easily shoving Cox down to the canvas. Cox pulls himself back up and goes for another tie-up, but quickly surprises Justice with a go-behind. Justice swats at Kerry until he finally connects with a back elbow that floors the former International Champion.

Cade: Cox is having a tough time here.

Madsen: He sure is. He needs to find a way to get around Justice’s power.

Cox pulls himself back up once again and charges at Justice, tackling him down to the mat! Cox pounds away on the head and shoulders of Justice with wild punches until the longhaired Martin pulls him off. Cox shoves the official to the side and charges once more, but Justice sees him coming and catches him with a hard sidewalk slam! Justice covers, one…two…and Cox kicks out!

Madsen: Justice has control. He can put Cox away if he keeps this up.

Cade: Kerry Cox has taken a ton of punishment in his career; he’s not done yet.

Justice lifts Cox up in a front facelock and positions him on the top turnbuckle. Justice climbs up for what would be a massive superplex, but Cox manages to fight him off and shove him down! Justice gets right back up, but Cox flies off and nails a flying shoulder tackle! He covers, 1---2---and Justice powers out! Cox gets back up and prepares himself to deliver the Coxsucker DDT! Justice gets to one knee, as Gindin climbs up on the ring apron. Martin goes over towards the superagent to tell him to get down, but Tony Annetta barrels through the crowd and into the ring before drilling Cox with the Tommygun spinebuster!

Cade: What the hell is Annetta doing here? He’s not in this match!

Madsen: He has to defend the International title against Cox at Animosity next week; maybe he’s just looking to get a leg up on his opponent.

Cade: By trying to cost him the match?

Madsen: Yes, that sounds about right Nick.

Justice gets back to his feet as Gindin climbs down and Annetta escapes, but Cox is down and totally out of breath on the mat. Justice then signals to the crowd before lifting Cox up, kicking him in the gut and slamming him down with a Blind Justice powerbomb! Justice hooks both legs as Martin slaps the mat three times and awards the win to Justice.

Madsen: One way or another, Justice managed to win over Kerry Cox.

Cade: He did, but you have to feel for Kerry. I’m not saying that Justice could not have gotten it done on his own, but Tony Annetta cost Kerry this match!

Madsen: Well I think Kerry is gonna have an even bigger score to settle with Annetta now, once they meet at Animosity.

Winner via pinfall at 6:10 – Justice

Segment 2 – Backstage

A camera is located in a hallway, where Spanish Fly and “The Standard Sleaze” Don Cerrone are walking in search of someone. They stop once they open a door and walk inside, and the camera follows.

Cerrone: Just the man we came to see.

The camera pans down, to find Jason Calysto watching the broadcast.

Calysto: Is that so?

Cerrone: Yes that is so. You see, my buddy Spanish Fly has a big match with Scythe next week at Animosity, and he’s looking for a tune-up match.

Calysto: A tune-up? Sure, there’s a guy named Daredevyl down the hall. He’s a good tune-up guy.

Cerrone: No, no, no. Mr. Calysto, we were thinking more along the lines of tuning up with a match against you.

Calysto: (Laughing) Me? You want a match with me? I don’t see a point, but sure, you got it. I thought you meant a tune-up for Spanish Fly, but you obviously meant one for me. Thanks; I appreciate that.

Fly: Look Calysto! Its about time I start making some waves around here, and I’m gonna start with you tonight!

Calysto: Okay, I understand now. You want to make waves here. There’s nothing wrong with that, but you have to realize one thing: you’re nothing that I can’t handle. You can go right to the ring. I’ll get my gear on, and you can have your tune-up. But I want you to do one thing guys; you can just shut up, because I’ll be doing all the wrestling tonight.  (As Fly and Cerrone exit) See you out there! (Laughing) A tune-up with me; this guy is unbelievable.

Segment 3, Match 2 – Spanish Fly vs. “The Iceman” Jason Calysto

Referee: Tom Stevens

DMX’s “The Convo” begins to blare over the loudspeakers, breaking the crowd’s silence as Spanish Fly and Don Cerrone make their way to the ring. Cerrone offers several last-minute words of encouragement to his charge before he enters the ring. All eyes turn back to the entrance as “F*ckin’ In The Bushes” by Oasis takes over and Jason Calysto arrives. Calysto graciously accepts his overwhelming crowd reaction and slides into the ring. Fly doesn’t waste any time in stomping away on Calysto as Stevens signals for the bell.

Cade: Spanish Fly is looking for an early advantage here.

Madsen: But can you blame him? That’s Jason Calysto; he’s a five-time World Champion. Fly needs to get an advantage and keep it to win this match.

Spanish Fly continues to stomp on Calysto until the crowd’s chants of “Iceman” force him to stop. Fly picks Calysto up by the hair and forces him into a corner before hitting him with a vicious side elbow to the jaw. Stevens reprimands Fly, who backs up and charges. Calysto sees Fly coming and pulls himself from the corner, allowing Fly to crash into the turnbuckles. Fly staggers out as Calysto hits the ropes and nails a running neckbreaker! “The Iceman” covers, but only gets a two count as Fly kicks out.

Calysto begins to focus his attack on the arm of his opponent, wrenching his arm into an armbar. Fly is forced to the ground, but manages to get back up after a thumb to the eye. Fly kicks Calysto in the gut, bounces off the ropes and scores with a high knee lift! Fly covers for 1---2---and Calysto kicks out once more.

Cade: Fly sure is taking the fight to Calysto.

Madsen: He sure is. Fly looks very prepared tonight, and he definitely has Calysto reeling right now.

A frustrated Spanish Fly picks Calysto up and scoop slams him back down before pointing towards the top rope and signaling for The Juice. Fly scales the turnbuckles and flies off the top rope, but Calysto rolls towards the turnbuckles, avoiding the splash! Calysto gets back to his feet and a groggy Spanish Fly does the same before “The Iceman” bounces off the ropes and nails him with a running spinning heel kick!

Cade: Calysto hit the spinning heel kick! You know what that means!

Madsen: I didn’t expect him to go for that move so quick, but this one might be on its way towards ending!

With the crowd screaming at a fever pitch, Calysto prepares himself behind Spanish Fly, in search for The Icebreaker as Cerrone climbs atop the ring apron! Cerrone manages to grab Stevens’ attention as Calysto grabs Spanish Fly and blasts him with the Icebreaker! Calysto covers, but there is no official to register the count! Calysto gets off of his opponent and grabs Cerrone by his collar before punching him down from the apron, but as Cerrone falls, Reaper runs down the ramp and towards the ring! Stevens sees the Lost Soul approaching and then heads his way to get him down, but the distraction allows Speed Demon to enter from the opposite side and blast Calysto in the head with his tag team championship belt! With Reaper still distracting the ref, Demon pulls a limp Spanish Fly by the arm and places him on top of Calysto before he exits the ring!

Cade: Dammit, the Lost Souls are trying to cost Calysto this match just like Annetta cost Cox his match earlier!

Madsen: This would be a huge upset if Stevens just turns around!

Reaper climbs down, and Tom Stevens sees Spanish Fly lying atop “The Iceman”, so he counts one…two…thre- Calysto gets a shoulder up! The Lost Souls, presuming Calysto is beaten, freeze atop the ramp once they see Stevens raise only two fingers as Cerrone goes ballistic on the outside!

Cade: It’s not over yet!

Madsen: But it still could be, both men are dazed right now!

After Cerrone’s advisement, Spanish Fly pries Calysto from the mat and whips him across the ring. Fly attempts leapfrog, but Calysto stops short and hits an inverted atomic drop before grabbing Fly’s arm and driving him down with the Crippler Crossface! Fly valiantly reaches for the bottom rope, but it’s too far out of reach and he taps out in submission!

Madsen: And now its over; what a major win for Calysto!

Cade: It truly was, but I can’t wait until next week when Calysto and Mike Griffin get their hands on the Lost Souls at Animosity, especially after what they tried to do tonight.

Madsen: Oh me too, but speaking of Animosity, Spanish Fly showed me something tonight. He went to the limit with one of the best in Calysto. If he stays focused, he can beat Scythe next weekend.

Cade: That remains to be seen, but it will sure be a hot one!

Calysto jaws with the Lost Souls as they backpedal through the curtain, and “F*ckin’ In The Bushes” continues to play as we cut backstage.

Winner via submission at 8:43 – “The Iceman” Jason Calysto

Segment 4 – Backstage

The camera is now inside the locker room of “The Miracle” Mike Troha and Daredevyl, where the former is taping his wrists.

Daredevyl: So let me ask you Mike, why did you issue this open challenge tonight? You had the night off.

Troha: The answer is really simple. I was just in such a great mood that I had to do it. I needed to get in the ring and rough somebody up.

Daredevyl: What calls for the great mood though?

Troha: Another simple one man. Last Tuesday, Loki agreed to fight me in a “Miracle Match”. No holds barred, and a winner is only recognized after a knockout. There is no way he can win! I got him out of my hair with those chair shots on Frequency, but next week at Animosity, I get rid of Loki for good.

Segment 5 – Backstage

We now cut to the dressing room of Michelle and Jade, where the two ladies are preparing for their upcoming matchup.

Michelle: I’m telling you Jade, I feel good about tonight.

Jade: Oh me too. Now that we don’t have to team with that glory hound Allison Kelly. Can you believe how she cost us that match last week by just leaving?

Michelle: Yeah, well that won’t happen tonight. From what I hear, she’s over in St. Louis right now doing some promotional work for Animosity. It’s just you and I tonight. You ready to take care of Jenny and Kayne?

Jade: More than ready. Lets go.

The shot then cuts to a different section of the backstage area, where Jenny Ottati and Kayne are seen making their way towards the curtain.

Segment 6 – Jumbotron

Wu-Tang Clan’s C.R.E.A.M. plays as we see clips of a young black man inside an empty gym, furiously hitting a speed bag, jumping rope, lifting weights, and shadowboxing. Then we are shown clips of the man boxing against several different opponents, and flooring them all.

Man: You think that’s impressive, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet. It’s almost…Showtime.

A graphic then airs, reading “Showtime” Damon Savage, coming to PWA…. at Animosity.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Segment 7, Match 3 – Michelle and Jade vs. Kayne and Jenny Ottati

Referee: Matt Hansen

Ring announcer Lee Palmer climbs into the ring as Kidneythieves’ “Zerospace” explodes over the speakers, and begins to talk shortly thereafter.

Palmer: This tag team contest is scheduled for one fall. First, representing S.I.N., at a total combined weight of 230 pounds, Jade and Michelle!

Jade and Michelle arrive to an enormous set of boos from the crowd in Kansas as they make their way to the ring. Clips are then shown on the Jumbotron from last week’s 6-woman tag match, where Allison Kelly cost her team the fall by being counted out. No Doubt’s “Just A Girl” takes over and Palmer speaks once more.

Palmer: And introducing their opponents, first, from Santa Rosa, California, weighing 110 pounds, Jenny Ottati!

Ottati steps out onto the ramp to a huge ovation from the fans as Michelle and Jade stalk around the ringside area. Ottati cautiously waits at the bottom of the ramp as “Who’s That Girl” by Eve hits next, sparking yet another huge positive reaction.

Palmer: And her tag team partner, weighing 125 pounds, from South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kayne!

Kayne and Ottati meet at the bottom of the ramp and both slide into the ring as Jade and Michelle do the same. Hansen gains order of the contest and calls for the bell. Jade and Kayne step out, leaving Jenny and Michelle to start things off. They lock up, and Jenny quickly executes a side headlock. Jenny wrenches the hold tightly, but Michelle pries her off by pulling her hair. Hansen checks things out as Jenny screams, but Ottati’s releasing of the hold allows Michelle time to hit a crisp, short clothesline! Michelle covers, 1---2—and Ottati kicks out! Michelle wrenches Jenny’s arm and holds onto it as she tags in Jade.

Cade: Now here comes Jade, who is seemingly mad at every other woman in the PWA right now.

Madsen: Well her and Michelle seem to get along fine, but there is one in particular that she cannot stand.

Cade: That’s right, Magnifica. Those two ladies will go one-on-one at Animosity next week.

Jade delivers a sharp kick to the arm of Ottati before sending her down with a vertical suplex. Jade floats into a cover for 1,2, and a kickout from Jenny. The former Women’s Champion then decides to wear down Ottati, locking her in a rear chinlock. The crowd begins to make some noise at Kayne’s request, as she gets antsy in her corner for a tag.

Cade: This crowd is getting behind Jenny!

Madsen: I would like to get behind Jenny too.

Cade: Yeah I bet.

Ottati struggles to her feet and elbows Jade in the stomach, breaking the hold. Jenny tries to hit the ropes, but Jade pulls her back by her hair! As Hansen yells at Jade, Ottati uses the close positioning to her advantage by grabbing Jade by the waist and sending her flying with a release belly-to-belly suplex! Jade lands near her corner, allowing her to make a tag to Michelle, but Kayne slaps hands with Jenny shortly thereafter and the arena comes alive!

Cade: And now Kayne is in!

Madsen: She’s fresh too. Michelle needs to find a way to stop her!

Cade: Hey, look up there at the entrance ramp. That’s Magnifica!

Cade proves to be correct as the spotlight shines atop the ramp and finds Magnifica watching this match! Jade, still clutching her hip from the suplex, ignores the pain by jumping down from the apron and darting up the ramp! The crowd roars at a fever pitch as Jade tackles Magnifica to the ground and the ladies begin to roll around on the ramp. Hansen quickly exits the ring and heads up the ramp to break up the melee as several PWA officials try to assist him, but as Kayne and Michelle battle in the ring, Allison Kelly barges through the crowd, over the barricade, and nails Ottati in the head with her belt!

Cade: What the hell is Allison doing here? She’s supposed to be in St. Louis!

Madsen: Well I guess she canceled that trip!

Kayne reaches over the top rope to take a swipe at Kelly, but the champion dodges it and snaps her head across the cable! Kelly runs back through the crowd as Kayne falls down to the mat. Hansen slides back into the ring as Jade and Magnifica brawl through the curtain, but as Kayne is on her hands and knees, Michelle runs forth and grabs her in an Oklahoma Roll! Hansen counts one…two…three!

Cade: Michelle just pinned Kayne from out of nowhere!

Madsen: Well she said she had a good feeling about tonight. Judging by the way she looks, I want to share that feeling with her.

Cade: Oh stop it man!

Michelle makes her victorious exit to Evanescence’s “Going Under”, as Hansen and Kayne check up on the dazed Ottati at ringside.

Winners via pinfall at 8:13 – Michelle and Jade

Segment 8 – Backstage

The camera cuts back to the dressing room of Mike Troha and Daredevyl as the door opens and both men exit, on their way to the ring.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Segment 9 – Ringside

Cade: Folks, we are one week, seven days away from Animosity.

Madsen: That will be one of the most anticipated nights in the PWA’s history for sure.

Cade: It certainly will be, and after what we saw on Frequency this past week, we have found out that Romeo has challenged Dee Licious’ new man, Mike Grieco.

Madsen: Grieco returned in a huge way last Tuesday, and I think he will accept that challenge sooner or later.

Cade: These are the other matches on that huge card:

PWA World Heavyweight Championship: “Smooth” Greg Tantalus © vs. Jaguar

PWA International Championship: Tony Annetta © vs. Kerry Cox

PWA Tag Team Championship: Lost Souls © vs. Mike Griffin and “The Iceman” Jason Calysto

No Holds Barred Street Fight: Mike Tortorici vs. The Machine

Spanish Fly vs. Scythe

Magnifica vs. Jade

“Miracle Match”: Loki vs. “The Miracle” Mike Troha

Madsen:  Not to mention a match just signed, a four corners match for the Progressive Championship, first pin wins!  It’s The Omega Steve Beovich defending his gold against Infernus, 7-Any Power, and Tim Dand.  That should be explosive!

Cade:  It’s one week from tonight, live from St. Louis, PWA Animosity, exclusively on pay-per-view!

Segment 10, Match 4 – “The Miracle” Mike Troha vs. Mystery Opponent

Referee: Jason Church

Lee Palmer gets back into the ring as the house lights go down in Topeka. At The Drive-In’s “Arcarsenal” then blasts through the PA system, and through two streams of flowing gold fireworks walk Daredevyl and his partner.

Palmer: This main event contest is scheduled for one fall. First, being accompanied by Daredevyl, from Binghamton, New York, weighing in at 220 pounds, he is “The Miracle” Mike Troha!

Troha and Daredevyl arrive to an immense amount of jeers from the crowd, but ignore them the entire way as they climb in the ring. Daredevyl takes Palmer’s microphone and quickly hands it to Troha.

Troha: Well, after watching this entire broadcast and wanting to know who my opponent is, I guess its now time. Send out the sheep!

The crowd begins to chant “Loki! Loki! Loki!”, causing Troha to become irate.

Troha: No! I will not face Loki! I destroyed him on Frequency! That loser isn’t even here tonight! Bring my opponent out now!

Madsen: I wonder who it could be. Whoever it is, this won’t be their lucky day.

The lights go back down, and a long pause ensues before “H-K” by Fear Factory explodes through the speakers and the lights flicker, signaling the arrival of The Machine!

Cade: It’s the Machine! Troha’s opponent is The Machine!

Madsen: Oh dear God! Run Troha! Run!!!

With the arena becoming nearly unglued from the massive pop received by The Machine, the man himself darts into the ring, while Troha wastes no time in darting out of it! Daredevyl is frozen in fear as Machine kicks him in the gut, grabs him in a front facelock, and plants him with a crippling Jackhammer!

Cade: The Machine just decimated Daredevyl!

Madsen: I don’t think Troha cares; he’s on his way out!

Troha makes it to the entrance ramp, but he is tackled by a cameraman! With the crowd and security in confusion, the cameraman takes off his hat, lets down his blond hair, and reveals himself to be Loki! The cheers increase in volume as Loki mounts Troha and proceeds to pound him into oblivion! Scores of PWA officials rush in from the back to break things up as 30 Seconds To Mars’ “Edge Of The Earth” plays over the PA system.

Cade: Troha’s plan backfired Rick! Loki has gained a measure of revenge tonight!

Madsen: He sure did, but did you see The Machine in there? I think Mike Tortorici could be in a little trouble at Animosity after watching him just run through Daredevyl the way he did.

Cade: He sure did run through him, but we are out of time ladies and gentlemen. We will see you next week from St. Louis. For Rick Madsen, I’m Nick Cade, saying goodnight everybody!
