The PWA logo
flashes onto the screen before fading away into the opening montage for
Overdrive. At its completion, we are taken inside
Cade: Hello fans and welcome to PWA Overdrive! I’m Nick
Cade, and this building is absolutely rocking Rick!
Madsen: This crowd is here is easily louder than the one
that was here for the Super Bowl in February, but let’s just hope there is no
wardrobe malfunction tonight!
Cade: I don’t think there will be, but we will see a new PWA World Heavyweight Champion crowned here tonight in the 30-man Symphony of Destruction!
Madsen: That’s right, one of those thirty men will
capitalize on the opportunity of a lifetime and will walk out with the PWA
Title.
Cade: Well let’s turn it over to Traci Reed, who is with
one of those thirty men right now.
The shot cuts backstage,
where Traci Reed is standing next to “The Miracle” Mike Troha.
Reed: Mike, for the
last 4 weeks, you have been stuck on the road with—
Troha: Don’t even
say his name Traci. I’m here for two reasons. Number one, to take four weeks of
aggression out on anyone that steps in my way, and number two, to regain the
PWA Championship. With the mood I’m in, it won’t take a miracle to do both.
This interview is over.
We cut to a dressing room
backstage, where Mike Grieco is preparing for his upcoming title defense as Dee
Licious watches on nervously.
Grieco: What are you so
worried about?
Dee: You know full well
what I’m worried about. Failla is a psycho Mike! He’s always been one and
tonight, I think he’s gonna try something crazy.
Grieco: Listen, I can
understand you’re worried, but I’m not the one to worry about. The last time we
fought, I put his ass through the mat. He wants to come back for more? Fine.
I’ll go down that aisle with this, and I come right back here with this, I
promise it.
Dee: Well I’m still not
going out there or anywhere else near that lunatic. You just make sure you win
as quick as possible so we can get the hell outta here. Houston smells like one
big farm to me anyway.
The crowd boos as
-Commercial Break-
We cut to the parking lot, where a long stretch limousine
pulls to a halt. The driver opens the back door, allowing “Not That” Rodney
King, Showtime Damon Savage and Da Banditz to exit.
King: Gentlemen, tonight is
our night. We’ve got three shots to bring home the PWA Title, but Showtime, you’ve got the juice tonight my man.
Savage:
Damn straight. When Showtime leaves Houston, not only will I be the Progressive
Champion, I’ll leave with the World Championship as well. This will be a night
to remember, no doubt about it.
We head back to the
interview area, where Traci Reed is now with Justin Schenck.
Reed: Justin, we just saw
Rodney King and his troops making their arrival to Reliant Stadium tonight. He
mentioned having three shots at winning the Symphony of Destruction, but you
also have three cohorts in the main event. What are your thoughts?
Schenck: Well, Rodney King
has a good mind for business, but he’s barking up the wrong tree tonight. There
is no way his team can outlast mine. All three of my men will be fresh and
hungry for World Title gold. We’ve got the ruthless Reaper, the savviest
veteran in the industry, Scott Hosemann, and the biggest, baddest Canadian ever
witnessed in Briggs. So it will be one of my three men leaving Houston as the
new champion, not his. Just do the math people.
Reed: Well good luck to
you.
The cameras cut over to the
announce table, where Nick and Rick begin to speak.
Cade: Very interesting
points there; both Justin and Rodney have three representatives in this SOD
match tonight. If they all stick together, one could very well win the title.
Madsen: If the luck of the
draw allows that strategy to come into play, watch out.
Cade: We’ll see that unfold
later this evening, but let me be the first to announce the inception of The
Progressive Entertainment Hall of Fame. Our superstars of the past, present and
future all work towards reaching this pinnacle and now it will finally come to
fruition for some. The voting period began on June 1st and will
continue all the way up to July 31st. In order to place your vote,
go to the web address below and make your voice heard on who will be inducted
into the Progressive Entertainment Hall of Fame on August 20th.

We head to another area, where Scott Cornelius is next to
an angry looking Jade.
Cornelius: Jade, you are
moments away from defending the PWA Women’s Championship against the woman you
took it from a few months ago, Lauren Tantalus. After your incredible mixed tag
team match last Tuesday on Frequency, are you ready for this match?
Jade: Of course I’m ready!
I’m the champ! However, I’m still having headaches from that scumbag Jaguar
dropping me on my head with the Pedigree the other night. He’ll pay for that
soon and very soon, but my focus is on Lauren Tantalus. Sure, she had quite the
little run a few months ago, but it’s my time to shine now and I’ll run right
through her or anyone else in order to keep this belt around my waist. Got it?!
Cornelius: Got it.
Jade: Good!
-Commercial Break-
We head back out to the parking lot, where another
limousine pulls up. The door opens and the 60,000-plus fans inside the arena
burst into passionate cheers as Mike Tortorici climbs out and grabs his bags to
head inside a wrestling ring for the final time.
Sometimes Never’s “Unheard” hits
the speakers and we see a graphic appear on the screen that reads “PWA Symphony
of Destruction Report.” From there, the
shot takes us to a backstage set and PWA reporter Ron O’Brien, who is standing
in front of a backdrop featuring the Symphony of Destruction logo.
O’Brien:
Hello ladies and gentlemen, my name is Ron O’Brien and this is the
Symphony of Destruction report. Folks,
we’re just moments away from what promises to be one of the biggest
pay-per-view spectacular in the history of the PWA, Symphony of Destruction,
live from Reliant Stadium here in Houston, Texas on June 5! The centerpiece of this incredible event is
the second-annual Symphony of Destruction match itself! The Symphony of Destruction will consist of
thirty PWA superstars, each randomly drawing a number from one to thirty. Numbers one and two will start the match,
with a new superstar entering every two minutes thereafter. Fans from last year will remember the one
huge difference that separates the Symphony of Destruction from a Royal Rumble:
in a Royal Rumble, elimination can be scored only via tossing your opponent
over the top rope and to the arena floor.
In the Symphony of Destruction, fighting on the outside of the ring is
completely legal and, often, encouraged.
No one can be eliminated by being tossed over the top rope. There are only two ways to eliminate an
opponent: by pinning them to the mat, 1, 2, 3, or by forcing them to
submit. The Symphony of Destruction
gives you all the suspense and intrigue of a Royal Rumble, but the added bonus
of having to pin your opponent or make them submit to determine a true and
clear winner. Furthermore, as
Commissioner Kerry Cox has ordered, the last man standing on June 5 will be
declared not number one contender, but will actually become the brand-new PWA
World Heavyweight Champion! History will
be made in Houston! Thus far, 19
superstars have entered the Symphony of Destruction, and they are Vulture,
Jaguar, Romeo, Greg Tantalus, the returning Miracle Mike Troha, Progressive
Champion Showtime Damon Savage, The Modern-Day Samurai Scythe, The Machine,
Jonathan Brett, Superstar Scott Hosemann, Reaper, Briggs, Dean Nash, Rudy
Montenora, International Champion Mike Grieco, Anthony Failla, Justice, The
Omega Steve Beovich, the returning Impulse Mike Griffin, Tag Team Champions
Paul Dawkins and Jackie Baccaro, Greg Price, Kris Anthony, James Biamonte,
Infernus, Tony Annetta, Gunna, Rebel, and, making his return from an injury two
months ago, Speed Demon! One slot was
still open for this incredible match, but as we have just witnessed, PWA
Commissioner Kerry Cox has declared himself eligible for one last chance to
become the PWA Champion!
Also in store for this spectacular
pay-per-view will be a match six years in the making, as the storied rivalry
between Vulture and Mike Tortorici comes to the final chapter. After splitting six one-on-one matches at
three a piece over the last six years, the seventh and deciding rubber match
will be held at the Symphony of Destruction.
In what will be Mike Tortorici’s final match, win lose or draw,
Tortorici will go head-to-head with Vulture one last time.
Mike Grieco puts the International Championship on the line against archenemy
Anthony Failla and, in a stipulation added earlier this week, in this match, there
will be no disqualifications!
The Tag Team Championship will be defended when Paul Dawkins and Jackie Baccaro
defend against upstart newcomers The Naturals!
Showtime Damon Savage defends the Progressive Championship against Dean Nash!
And, for the Women’s Championship, Jade defends the gold against former
champion Lauren Tantalus!
That’s all for now, folks. For the
Symphony of Destruction report, I’m Ron O’Brien, saying see you in here
Houston, where history is guaranteed to be made!
Cade: Well fans,
we have come to the end of the road. The Symphony of Destruction is just
minutes away, but we must also announce that this edition of Overdrive will be
the final one.
Madsen: We’ve had
some great memories on this show, and I’m sure they
will continue for us in other areas.
Cade: It has been a
tremendous run, but after 46 editions of Overdrive, we would just like to thank
you fans for inviting us in and entertaining you. For Rick Madsen, this is Nick
Cade signing off, saying enjoy the Symphony of Destruction!
