PWA
OVERDRIVE
We are shown an outside shot of the American Airlines Arena
in
Cade: Good evening fans and welcome to the first PWA Overdrive of
2004! It’s a warm day outside and even hotter in here as we are just an hour
away from, Forsaken, Justin!
Schenck: It definitely is and let me say it’s much nicer here in
Cade: Well tonight, we will witness the most dangerous
match there is, Seven Deadly Sins. 8 men in 7 falls for 1 title. What are your
thoughts on that one?
Schenck: I really don’t have an official pick, but I will say that
it will be very difficult for Mike Tortorici to leave here with the World Title
intact.
Cade: Well we’ll find out later this evening.
A camera cuts backstage where Speed Demon is heading towards his
locker room. He is nearing it when his former tag team partner and Progressive
Champion Reaper gets in his way.
Demon: What the hell do you want Reaper?
Reaper: Number one, you should take a little of that bass out of
your voice Demon. I saw what Vulture did to you earlier this week and you
deserved it. Don’t make me give you more of the same before our match tonight.
Demon: Its good you brought up that match Reaper. Most of the
focus has been on the International Title lately, and I’d love to win it, but
it would mean too much to me to take that Progressive Title away from you. So while
Romeo and Mike Grieco fight each other, I’ll let you know right now that I’ll
be gunning for you and that belt. Now I’ve gotta go find my dressing room. You
think about that.
Demon walks past the TFU member, leaving Reaper upset in his wake.
We cut to the parking lot, where a long, black stretch BMW 745 pulls to a stop. The driver opens the back door and the crowd inside boos as Showtime Damon Savage and “Not That” Rodney King step out and make their way into the arena.
We cut to the interview area, where Tracie Reed is with Paul
Dawkins and Jackie Baccaro.
Reed: Paul, Jackie, tonight will be your first pay-per-view
event as a tag team and you’re going up against a very established team, former
tag team champions, Ryan and Jeff Knakal.
Baccaro: We understand that Tracie, but since this is our first
pay-per-view as a team, we’re looking at it a little differently. We don’t see
the Knakal brothers as a challenge tonight. We view them as a stepping-stone.
Tell em Paul.
Dawkins: Jackie’s exactly right. We could sit back and worry about
how great the Knakals were or we could focus on how great we are going to
become. Tonight is the start of a new era around here, and we’re gonna start
with the Knakals right here tonight.
-COMMERCIAL BREAK-
We cut back to the interview area, where Tracie Reed is now
standing with Kayne.
Reed: Kayne, we have witnessed you undergo what seems like
a change in attitude lately. Tonight, you will challenge for the PWA Women’s
Championship in a four-way matchup with Allison Kelly, Jade and the champion,
Lauren Tantalus. What are your thoughts?
Kayne: You’re right Tracie, I have changed my attitude. The fans can
see it any way they want to, but I realized that I needed to become much more
aggressive if I want to regain the Women’s Championship. As far as my opponents
go tonight, I don’t care which one I have to beat. Just rest assured that I
will do everything it takes to win the title here tonight.
The camera cuts to the back door of the arena, where Tag Team Champion Jaguar arrives. The former PWA Champion, sporting a black Ray Lewis Baltimore Ravens jersey, turns a corner to find his dressing room and when he opens the door, the other co-holder of the Tag Team Championship steps out, namely Vulture.
Vulture: Oh hey Jag. You’re early tonight; I guess you’re focused
huh?
Jaguar: Uh, yeah cuz. You know I am.
Vulture: Whats with the Lewis jersey man?
Jaguar: Well this is
Vulture: Ah, that’s right. Shame he isn’t a Raider, but let’s get
serious for a minute here. Remember what we talked about on Frequency?
Jaguar: Yeah.
Vulture: Well I meant it. I took you out of the Seven Deadly Sins
match last year and I won’t hesitate to do it again.
Jaguar: That’s all fine and good, but since you took me out last
year and cost me the PWA Title, I won’t have any problem doing the same to you
either. Tag Team champs or not, I’ll take you clean out the game the first
chance I get. Believe that.
Vulture: Good, just wanted to make sure we’re on the same page.
I’ll catch you later man, I gotta go get ready.
Jaguar: See you out there.
Segment 7, Match 1 – PWA Women’s
Championship – Lauren Tantalus © vs. Jade vs. Kayne vs. Allison Kelly
Referee: Dan Martin
We head back to the ring, ready for championship action as
“Zerospace” by Kidneythieves hits the speakers.
Former Women’s champion Jade arrives to a highly mixed reaction, but she
seemingly blocks the crowd out as Eve’s “Who’s That Girl” hits next. Kayne
steps out to a very similar reaction, but she does look more focused than ever
as she makes her way to the ring. “White America” by Eminem starts next,
signaling a chorus of boos for Allison Kelly as she makes her entrance. The
three ladies all look ready to take down the champion, who arrives to a big pop
after “Free” by VAST begins to play.
Cade: This should be a hot match Justin. All four women have
worn the title around Lauren Tantalus’ waist and there are three that are dying
to wear it again.
Schenck: Well I’m expecting a free-for-all because the first pin
wins in this one. Whoever gets that leaves with the gold!
The bell sounds and the ladies pair off as the champion slides
into the ring. Jade begins to slug it out with Allison Kelly as Kayne puts the
boots to the champion. Kayne keeps her attack aggressive, applying a blatant
choke to Tantalus as Martin struggles to break it up. Across the ring, Kelly
begins to pound away on Jade, who is trapped in a corner.
Kayne grabs Tantalus by the hair and Irish whips her to the ropes,
but she ducks a clothesline and takes Kayne down with one of her own on the
return! Allison whips Jade out, but the Las Vegas native reverses the whip and
sends her crashing down with a short clothesline! Jade and Tantalus are left
standing at this point, until Jade catches the champion with a side effect from
nowhere! Jade covers for 1----2---and its broken up by Kayne!
Cade: We almost had a new champion right there!
Schenck: And Jade isn’t too happy about it!
Jade gets up and trades blows with Kayne until a heavy right helps
her win that battle. Kayne hits the ground, but Kelly sneaks up behind Jade
before grabbing her by the hair and slamming her down with a Raunchinator!
Kelly goes for a cover, but Kayne quickly pulls her up and Overdrives her down
hard on the mat! Both Jade and Kelly are helpless on the mat, but the champion
is up and Tantalus spins Kayne around before kicking her in the stomach and
flipping her up and slamming her down with a tiger driver! Tantalus holds the
move into a pin and Martin counts 1---2---3!
Cade: And Lauren retains again!
Schenck: Those were three of the best female wrestlers in the
world! Can anyone stop Lauren Tantalus?!
Cade: The way it’s looking now, I don’t think so!
Winner via pinfall at 5:05 and still
PWA Women’s Champion – Lauren Tantalus
We head back outside to the parking lot, where a gold rental car pulls into a spot and stops. Seconds later, Don Capriglione steps out of the passenger’s side while his brother, Dustin hops out on the opposite end. Both brothers look very focused on taking Jon Dulberg and Steve Beovich out and ending Synergy for good as they enter the arena.
-COMMERCIAL BREAK-
Segment 9 – Backstage
We go right behind the curtain, where Lauren Tantalus has
just gotten backstage after another successful title defense, only to be stopped
by Scott Cornelius.
Cornelius: Lauren, yet another terrific victory for you. You’re
seemingly becoming one of the greatest women’s champions of all time and you’re
still a rookie. What’s next for you?
Tantalus: I really don’t know Scott. I’ve beaten every woman the
PWA has to offer time and time again and it’s about time I started getting some
real respect around here. I don’t think the world is gonna know me as an
upstart rookie anymore. It’s about time they start thinking of me as
potentially the best Women’s Champion of all time.
We head back to the interview position, where Tracie Reed is now
with Justice and GI Jew.
Reed: GI Jew, Justice, tonight you team up for the first time in
months to face the team of Solomon and Tony Annetta. After all the bad blood
that has gone down between you two teams, what are your thoughts on tonight's
matchup?
Well Tracie, it might have been a few months
apart, but we got something on our side. Pure, straight up ANGER! After dealing
with that scumbag Gindin and his two puppets, we are both really,
really PISSED OFF! Solomon, Annetta, Gindin, I don’t know whats runnin
through your empty heads, but you’re both in for a beating that’s gonna go into
the highlight reels right up there next to when I took Gindin’s punk ass out
right before Christmas. You keep talking about "reigning over the
PWA" and its nightly nighttime. What are you a cartoon villain? Is this
He-man? Are u Skeletor boy?! Just listen
up good you mutt, Me and Justice been doing this for a long ass time, and you
and your little ass buddy Annetta, who are teaming up for the FIRST time
tonight, you aren’t gonna be nothin’ more than another notch on our belts.
We head to a dressing room backstage, where
Speed Demon and Mike Grieco are preparing for their match when their partner
Romeo walks in. The crowd’s cheers can be heard as Grieco gets right in his
face, with Speed Demon not daring to separate the two.
Grieco: Before you say anything, let me make a few
things clear to you. Number one, I do not like you. Number two, I never will
like you. Number three, I will become the PWA International Champion tonight.
And number four, there is nothing you can do about it. If you get in my way,
partners or not, I’ll wipe the mat with you just like I’m used to doing when
I’m in the ring with you. Got it?
Romeo: Now Mike, is that any way to welcome me
back? I’ve been on the shelf for two long months, and I come back to a welcome
like that? Let me make some things clear with you. Infernus took me out the
game two months ago. This kid tried to take food off my place cuz, and I’m back
to whoop his ass and take his title. I’m gonna take what’s dear to him, and if
I take that from you too, so be it. But as far as getting in your way, the last
time you faced me I powerbombed your punk ass on a basketball court. How’d your
back feel after that chief? Yeah. I’m taking the International belt tonight
whether you like it or not. If you get in my way, we might have to make another
Meltdown moment. Now sit on that.
Grieco holds back his anger as the smooth
Playboi exits the room.
We cut back to the interview area, where Scott
Cornelius is standing by with Jaguar.
Cornelius: Jag, tonight you are competing once
again in the Seven Deadly Sins matchup. You have competed in more of these
matches than anyone, but you have lost them both and even lost the PWA
Championship the last time one was held. What are your thoughts?
Jaguar: You’re right Corny, I have been in more
Seven Deadly Sins matches than anyone else. This will be number three, and I
think the third time will be the charm tonight. I’ve watched each and every
single guy in this matchup and I’ve beaten most of them before, but as you saw
with Vulture and me, I won’t stop for anything to regain the title tonight. I’m
here for one reason, and that’s to leave here with the PWA Championship around
my waist for the fourth time.
Cornelius: Alright, thanks and good luck
Jaguar.
We cut
backstage to a locker room, where the camera pans from left to right, revealing
Reaper, Jonathan Brett, Infernus, Mike Troha, Mike Griffin and Greg Tantalus,
in that order as Co-Commissioner Jerry Georgatos stands in front of them.
Georgatos:
Gentlemen, you all realize the task at hand. Tonight is a night where TFU will
solidify its dominance and bring home the most important titles in the
business. Infernus and Brett will take care of the tag team champions on
Tuesday, but don’t lose sight of your mission this evening. Infernus, you need
to bring that International Title back home and Reaper, you need to do the
same. Jonathan, you must do everything in your power to help keep their titles
intact, and you know what I mean. Troha, Griffin and Tantalus, I don’t need to
tell you what to do. Just make sure you get the job done and one of you brings
the gold home where it belongs. By the end of the week, we’ll have every belt
in the company and no one, no one will be able to stop us!
Segment 14 – Jumbotron
David Draiman's
"Forsaken" hits the speakers and we see a graphic appear on the
screen that reads "PWA Forsaken Report." From there, the shot
takes us to a backstage set and PWA reporter Ron O'Brien, who is standing in
front of a backdrop featuring the Forsaken logo.
O'Brien: Hello ladies and
gentlemen, my name is Ron O'Brien and this is the Revival report. The
Progressive Wrestling Alliance will return to pay-per-view Saturday night,
January 24, when we invade the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida to
bring you Revival. The whole card has been announced, so let's get right
to it!
In a brutal Seven Deadly Sins match, Mike Tortorici defends the PWA
Championship against Mike Griffin, Greg Tantalus, Mike Troha, Vulture, Jaguar,
Rudy Montenora, and The Machine! Eight men, seven falls, it's the most
intense 70 minutes of wrestling you'll find all year!
In a one-fall, two-titles match, the team of International Champion Infernus,
Progressive Champion Reaper, and Jonathan Brett meets Romeo, Speed Demon, and
Mike Grieco! If Infernus or Reaper is pinned in this six-man tag, they
will lose their title to the man that pins him!
In a grudge match, former friends Don "The MVP" Capriglione and
"The Human Highlight" Jon Dulberg will go head to head! Plus, we've
been informed that Dustin Capriglione and The Omega Steve Beovich will be
ringside supporting their respective friends, so who knows what could happen?
Showtime Damon Savage goes one-on-one with former International Champion Loki!
GI Jew teams with Justice to battle Walter Gindin’s Alaskan monster Solomon and
his newest associate Tony Annetta!
Plus, the hotshot young duo of Paul Dawkins and Jackie Baccaro teams to battle
former Tag Team Champions Ryan and Jeff Knakal!
All this and more coming your way momentarily from Miami, Florida! It's
Forsaken, exclusively on pay-per-view! That's all for now, folks.
For the Forsaken report, I'm Ron O'Brien, saying see you right here in Miami!
