1 After a disputed finish in a PWA World Championship match between Anthony Failla and PWA Champion Jaguar on February 22, 2005, PWA owner Bryan Conroy, with the Organization of Responsible Advertisers (O.R.A.) created a new world championship title in order to recognize Failla as world champion, which O.R.A. president Helen Summers authorized and Conroy sanctioned as an official PWA championship

2 Three nights after Jaguar won the title inside Hell in a Cell, new CEO Kerry Cox announced the end of the PWA’s relationship with the ORA, and announced plans to merge the championship into the PWA Championship on September 17, 2005.  Effective August 23, 2005, the ORA World Heavyweight Championship became known as the Progressive World Heavyweight Championship for the final 25 days of its existence

3 The Progressive World Heavyweight Championship was unified into the PWA World Heavyweight Championship on September 17, 2005, when Tantalus won an Elimination Chamber match that also featured Baccaro, Jaguar, Romeo, Jason Calysto, and Scythe
