NYCW
HAMMERSTEIN BALLROOM
NEW YORK, NY
THURSDAY, APRIL 17, 2003
* RINGSIDE – NYCW Commissioner JERRY GEORGATOS comes out and tells everyone that he
changed his mind about the tournament he announced last week, where one
individual would earn a spot on the card for PWA EVERLASTING II on August
9. He laughs at the fans, and at the
wrestlers themselves, saying that any of them that thinks they’re good enough
for PWA is out of their mind. To this,
Darkseed’s “Cold Under Water” hits and the monstrous SOLOMON comes to the
ring. SOLOMON asks GEORGATOS if he was insulting him, and GEORGATOS is immensely
afraid. SOLOMON screams at GEORGATOS for ruining
the opportunity for all the boys in the back to make it to the PWA, and says he
has a thank you for him. With that, SOLOMON lifts GEORGATOS and destroys
him with the Deep Freeze to an overwhelming ovation.
* MATCH 1 –
MARTIN BLACKBURN and JILLIAN CLAY d. KILAUEA and JESSICA TILLMAN at 4:03. BLACKBURN forced KILAUEA to submit to an STF.
* MATCH 2 - ROLAND HOLCOMB d. JACKIE BACCARO at 8:14 with
the Curtain Call. This match marked the
professional debut of BACCARO, who impressed NYCW audiences with his tenacity, nearly
defeating the veteran HOLCOMB. We will definitely be
seeing more of this 23-year-old athlete, said to be a can’t-miss prospect.
* MATCH 3 –
ANTHONY “BK” DESIO d. BIG
VERNON GOODWIN at 5:36 after Dropping the Deuce.
* MATCH 4 –
MEGAN LOVATO d. LI
MEI
at 3:46 via pinfall with a rollup. This
was LOVATO’s professional
debut, upsetting the favored LI MEI for the victory.
* RINGSIDE – RYAN KNAKAL heads out to ICONZ’s “Get F*cked Up” and immediately
publicly challenges his cousin JON DULBERG for the NYCW Championship. Pantera’s “Walk” cues and DULBERG heads into the ring to respond. KNAKAL repeats his challenge, and DULBERG explains that
he is defending the title against ROB GRAVES tonight, and the winner has FRANK BRIGGS lined up for
next week, after he returns from his dark match tour of PWA. However, DULBERG considers KNAKAL next in line
after that. Cue Rob Zombie’s “Bring Her
Down” and out comes ANDREW LIVINGSTON. LIVINGSTON questions KNAKAL’s validity,
and a match is set up between LIVINGSTON and KNAKAL for next week, with the winner becoming number one contender to
the NYCW Championship.
* MATCH 5 –
SOLOMON d. DAMIEN
FIELDS in 0:47 with the Deep Freeze.
SOLOMON received an
overwhelming pop upon his entrance and victory, largely due to his annihilation
of JERRY
GEORGATOS at the top of the show.
* BACKSTAGE – JOSH MCGUIRE is standing by with the NYCW Tag Team Champions DA BANDITZ. JERMAINE HARRIS and CHARLES WALKER acknowledge the challenge issued
to them last week by ALEX MASON and BOBBY BURRIS of THE OLD SCHOOL. DA BANDITZ eagerly accept
their challenge, and tell THE OLD SCHOOL to bring it in a title match next week.
* MATCH 6 – THE IRISH ASSASSIN JOE MALONE and THE TYRANT d. RYAN VALENTINE and ANDREW LIVINGSTON at 7:13.
* MATCH 7 – NYCW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP – JON DULBERG © d. ROB GRAVES at 17:18 to retain the title. DULBERG pinned GRAVES with the Play of the Day, scoring the
victory to a deafening ovation. No
aftermath activity tonight, as DULBERG celebrates to “Walk” and the fans go home happy.
