5-time CAW Heavyweight Champion
Original owner of both FSW and the PWA
Bio: The original owner of the PWA, Bryan Conroy's name is synonymous with the organization itself - but his stiory also turned out to a be a cautionary tale, highlighting how absolute power indeed does corrupt absolutely. Before PWA began, Bryan Conroy was a well-respected independent competitor who was known for his technical skill. Conroy went on to become of the dominant stars of CAW, capturing the heavyweight championship five times. However, when CAW folded, Conroy was proactive, investing his money to launch FSW, in order to take advantage of CAW's vacated market. When CAW returned, the two companies feuded for the territory, a battle which FSW ultimately won. With CAW conquered, Conroy merged the two companies together and took the company national, launching the PWA in August 2002. As owner, Conroy did a lot of good things for the company, so much so that many top PWA competitors rallied around him in 2004 to stave off an attempt by deposed CAW owner Jerry Georgatos to overtake him. However, when Conroy took a leave of absence from PWA the next year due to personal reasons, he came back a changed man. Kerry Cox received rave reviews for his performance shepherding the company, and Conroy returned hell-bent on making people rememeber that this was his company. Ultimately, their power struggle came to a head with Conroy losing PWA to Cox, before finding a contractual loophole to return and take it back months later. However, when Conroy regained power, he did so to destroy PWA, selling to a bidder that wished to liquidate the company for his assets, the ultimate act of defiance towards wrestlers and fans he felt didn't appreciate him. In the end, it was Georgatos himself who bought the company out from under Conroy's nose, and went through with destroying it to finally end Conroy's assocation with the company once and for all. Once Georgatos sold the rights to PWA to the NOW Network, Conroy two years ago attempted to re-purchase the company he launched, but to no avail. He has not been heard from since, and has reportedly left the wrestling business behind in disgust. However, controversial or not, his place in history is secure.
