CARNEGIE HALL
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2012
At the conclusion of the opening credits, “Perfect Strangers” by Deep Purple
begins, and a raucous ovation takes over world-famous Carnegie Hall as PWA Hall
of Famer Mike Tortorici walks out onto the stage. The six-time CAW kingpin
beams with pride as he looks out into the crowd. As the cheers start to die
down, Tortorici begin speaking through a small microphone clipped to his dapper
black suit.
Tortorici: Thank you all, and welcome
everyone to The Rebirth Awards! I’m Mike Tortorici, and I’m very honored to be
your host here tonight in Carnegie Hall. What began as a small promotion so
many years ago has grown into a worldwide, cultural phenomenon and I am truly
humbled to have played a role in that. Tonight, we will hear from many others
who have played a part, and we will recognize those who have made the most
significant impact in what has come to be known as the Rebirth Era of the PWA.
With no further ado, let’s bring out our first presenter, former PWA World
Heavyweight Champion Dan Crowley!
“Judas Rising” by Judas Priest blares through the
state-of-the-art sound system for Crowley’s arrival, and a warm ovation greets
him as he approaches the podium.
Crowley: Thank you everyone. This has been an
incredible Rebirth Era for the PWA, and I too, am extremely honored to have
been a part of it. When the news broke that the PWA would be reborn, many of us
were at different stages in our lives than where we were after the initial
shutdown. Some of us were able to dive right back in, while others had a
tougher road back. For one reason or another, these five incredible athletes
who weren’t on the roster when the Rebirth Era began fought their way back to a
PWA ring to compete, and compete at a very high level. We will now honor the
competitor who has achieved the Comeback of the Rebirth Era. The nominees are:
COMEBACK OF
THE REBIRTH ERA
Bryan Conroy
Jackie Baccaro
Jason Calysto
Rich Revis
Romeo
Crowley: And the winner is… Rich Revis! Come on up,
Rich!
“Body Ya” by Fabolous now hits the
speakers and a terrific ovation meets Rich Revis, who is clearly a little
emotional as he reaches the stage and shares an embrace with his longtime tag
team partner. Crowley tells Revis this is his moment and slides to the
background as the former International Champion moves to the podium.
Revis:
Unbelievable. Thank you all for this award. It’s an honor and a privilege to
compete in front of all of you, and it took me breaking my neck and enduring a
long stint in the hospital and even longer rehab from hell for me to realize
that. The road back to the PWA has been a bumpy one for me. One filled with
twists, turns, pitfalls and now redemption. Redemption that will come in four
days at Everlasting Epic when we beat The Soul Stealers and—
Another word cannot be heard as Revis’ microphone
is immediately cut and the lights go black inside Carnegie Hall. The murmur of
a confused and panicked crowd grips the venue until the video wall displays a
cloaked Bishop Cross, flanked in the background by Markus Krieg. The reigning
PWA Tag Team Champions appear to be in a cemetery.
Cross: Ladies
and gentlemen do not be alarmed, as it is merely the attention of Rich Revis
and Dan Crowley that we seek. You see, while this might be a feel-good moment
for the two of you, I don’t believe you realize exactly what this night
represents. Your fates have each already been sealed. Rebirths don’t last
forever. Celebrate now, but know that this celebration is merely your wake. And
come Saturday, The Soul Stealers will finish what they started. We will condemn
you to eternal damnation. And make no mistake about it: there IS no salvation
for you. There can be NO resurrection of past glory. This Saturday night, all
there will be… is an execution.
As White Zombie’s “Blood, Milk and Sky” plays in
the video, Cross walks off-screen as Krieg slowly follows suit. The camera pans
down to find an old tombstone, reading “The Lost Souls – Speed Demon &
Reaper – 2006.” Next to that tombstone, however, are two small, shiny, and
presumably new tombstones that bear the names “Dan Crowley” and “Rich Revis,”
both brandishing the expiration date of October 20, 2012. The lights then come
back up in Carnegie Hall, which is now gripped with terror. The camera shows
Revis and Crowley together on the stage, seething with anger, before storming
out as we head to a commercial break.

BREAK --
We return from the break to find Scott Cornelius
rushing through the backstage area to find PWA creative director Justin
Schenck, who is in an angry discussion with a producer before turning around.
Schenck: What is
it, Scott?
Cornelius:
Justin, I’m sure you just saw what we all witnessed a moment ago.
Schenck: Of
course I saw it, and I don’t know where The Soul Stealers are, nor do I know
what type of equipment they acquired to do that, but they will NOT commandeer
this show! I’ve spoken to our producers, and another interruption like that
will not happen. I guarantee you that, Scott.
With that said, Schenck storms off as we head back
up to the stage.
Tortorici: One
tremendous thing the Rebirth Era has provided us has been an influx of dynamic
cruiserweight stars from around the globe. Here to present the award for
Cruiserweight Performer of the Rebirth Era, Dexter P. Wellington!
Mozart’s “Marriage of Figaro” plays as though it
simply belongs in Carnegie Hall, and Wellington walks out and approaches the
podium as smugly as ever.
Wellington: First of all, I’d like to
stress that if it had not been for my reign as International Champion in the
Rebirth Era, when I was a heavier competitor, yours truly would clearly have
had to make more room on my glorious mantle for yet another award. But here are
the current nominees:
CRUISERWEIGHT PERFORMER OF THE REBIRTH ERA
Asai Moon
Fenix Clarke
Juan Pablo Alvarez
Paul Epton
Saif al Abbad
Wellington: And the winner is… Saif al
Abbad?! Is this some sort of joke?!
Ahlam’s “Aksem” begins and a nice reception greets
Saif as he rises from his seat and approaches the podium in the finest
silk-made clothing. Wellington disgustedly walks off stage, rather than hand
the award to his longtime rival.
However, before Saif can reach the podium, Juan
Pablo Alvarez barges onto the stage and snatches the award.
Alvarez: I am the best cruiserweight in
the PWA! That’s why I am the Progressive Champion, not Saif! This is award is
mine! Gracias!
Alvarez mutters to himself in Spanish as he runs off stage and to the back.
Saif, who is still standing on stage, then approaches the podium.
Saif: I do not
need a trophy to prove that I am the best cruiserweight athlete. Thank you all
very much from the bottom of my heart, and thank you for the cards, the emails,
and the tweets wishing me well in my recovery. It is because of you that I will
be 100% for Everlasting Epic, and I promise you, I WILL regain the Progressive
Championship! I will not let you down! Thank you!
We now cut into the crowd where Nick Cade is
standing by with Keiko Ishida.
Cade: Hello
everyone, Nick Cade here, and I’m here with the legendary Keiko Ishida. Keiko,
how are you tonight?
Keiko: I am
fine, but in no mood to exchange pleasantries with you, Nick. Tonight, I will
speak when I claim my award as the dominant female in this company. But my
message tonight will pale in comparison to the one I send Saturday night, when
I will leave Everlasting Epic as the final PWA Women’s Champion.
Cade: Alright
Miss Ishida, according to you, we will hear from you later this evening. Let’s
head back to the main stage.
Back at the stage, Tortorici begins speaking.
Tortorici:
Our next presenter is a three-time International Champion and legitimately one
of the strongest competitors we have seen in a PWA ring. Give it up for Michael
Grieco!
“Da Repercussions” by 50 Cent booms, and Grieco
walks out onto the stage to a decent reaction, but appears to be in an
unpleasant mood.
Grieco: You
know, it was a few short years ago that I approached this stage and was named
the Most Improved Performer in this company. A few years later, I’ve co-main
evented an Everlasting Epic and am clearly the guy who is always improving. But
I guess they wanted to limit the amount of times I could win. Why else would
all these other guys have a chance? Well whatever, let’s look at the nominees:
MOST IMPROVED PERFORMER OF THE REBIRTH ERA
Asai Moon
John Wolfe
Jon Dulberg
Markus Krieg
Matthew Magellan
Grieco: And the
winner is…Matthew Magellan. Oh come on!
“The Final Countdown” by the London Symphony
Orchestra begins, and another case of strange bedfellows arises as Magellan and
his manager Jade approach the stage with glee. Grieco scoffs at the notion of
Magellan winning and exits the stage with disgust matching that of Dex
Wellington moments ago, as the current International Champion places his championship
belt on the podium to pick up his newly-won gold award.
Magellan: Thank
you everyone. I’ve gotta tell you, if this were the Emmy’s, Michael Grieco
would have won one for that performance, insinuating that my success is not the
direct reason for his latest failures, but I digress. I can tell you all that
it feels so good to be a part of this great organization and see my hard work
validated in this manner with all of you present. It will be my honor and
privilege to continue to do so at Everlasting Epic where I will retain the
International title and finish strong. Thank you!
As “The Final Countdown” replays and Magellan
indulges the crowd with a quick hip swivel and pelvis thrust, presumably a
first for the Carnegie Hall stage, we are shown the backstage area, where Nick
Cade approaches Michael Grieco, who has watched Magellan’s speech.
Cade: Mr.
Grieco, you just watched—
Grieco: (cutting
him off) Magellan, you think you’re gonna be the one to make history, punk?!
You think I forgot about you embarrassing me at Everlasting Epic last year?!
Nobody has held that title more than I have, and I’ll make damn sure I finish
you on Saturday, and take back what is mine!
The Staten Island Strongman angrily storms off as we head to another break.
-- COMMERCIAL
BREAK --
We return to Carnegie Hall with Mike Tortorici in the crowd and addressing the
viewers.
Tortorici: When
I think of some of the greatest tag teams of all time, there are some
tremendous names that stick out. The Hot Boy$, TFU, The Lost Souls… this
company has seen some tremendous duos. But now I’d like to introduce an
unspoken duo that always keeps me entertained. Please give a warm welcome to
Randall Buckingham and Victor Troy!
A rousing ovation greets the PWA’s resident
commentary tandem as they approach the podium.
Troy: Randall, I
have been here since day one of the PWA, and it is such an honor to be here in
Carnegie Hall.
Buckingham: It
IS an honor, and it will also be an honor to present the award for the Tag Team
of the Rebirth Era to one great tandem tonight. In my years of carrying Victor
Troy, I’ve learned all there is to learn about how to have a great team.
Troy: Even on
this night, you still can’t help but be yourself, can you?
Buckingham: Who else should I be?
Troy: Ladies and gentlemen, here are the nominees:
TAG TEAM OF THE REBIRTH ERA
The Hollywood Miracle
The Hot Boy$
Paul Dawkins & Renegade
The Soul Stealers
Texas Justice
Troy: And the winners are…The Hot Boy$!
The remixed version of “We On Fire” hits for the
first time in several weeks and the crowd bursts into cheers as Jaguar and
Romeo rise from their seats and head to the stage. Opponents at Everlasting
Epic for the second time, the men with a combined nine tag team titles – and a
record-setting five PWA tag titles as a unit -- come together and shake hands
to mutually accept their award.
Jaguar: First of
all, I know we are opponents in our last match this Saturday night, but I’d
like to personally thank the man to my left. If it weren’t for him returning
here, there would be no Hot Boy$ in this Rebirth Era. Romeo, thank you brother.
The fans applaud this statement.
Romeo: No thanks
needed. We’ve been doing it a long time, and it was a no-brainer for me to come
back and defend our legacy. And we did that. But as nice as this is, we know
what awaits us in four nights. We’ve talked about it a hundred times and the
talking is almost over, but I’ll say this: we are the greatest tag team of all
time, and this right here says so. Thank you.
“We On Fire” replays and the Hall of Fame tandem
exits the stage, but the cameras catch some commotion in the crowd between Paul
Dawkins, Renegade, Kemi Okoro, Don Cerrone, and The Hollywood Miracle. It
appears both teams are being tossed from the venue as Nick Cade catches up with
them in the concourse as they are being rounded up by security.
Cade: Guys!
Guys! What’s happening here?!
Cerrone: This whole show is a sham! There’s no way The Hot Boy$ were the best
team! We beat them!
Renegade: And we beat you!
Hollywood Mike Griffin: That was a fluke!
Cerrone: And now
we are being thrown out?! This is ridiculous! This is injustice!
Security guard: Justin said no more outbursts tonight, guys. I’m sorry, but
you’ve all gotta go.
Dawkins: Doesn’t
matter fellas. It’s cool. Everlasting Epic is in four days. We beat you once
and we’ll do it again on the biggest stage.
Cerrone: In your
dreams, Dawkins!
As all five men and the lady are ejected, we return
to Carnegie Hall where “Hate Me Now” by Nas and Puff Daddy thumps through the
speakers until Showtime Damon Savage begins to speak.
Showtime: In all
the time Showtime’s been in the PWA, he’s come to appreciate a lot of things.
Winning every major championship, having a Hall of Fame career, but Showtime
also learned what it’s like to have that appreciation not be returned. It takes
a strong person to embrace the hate, and Showtime respects all of tonight’s
nominees for Most Hated Performer of the Rebirth Era. Roll ‘em:
MOST HATED PERFORMER OF THE REBIRTH ERA
Emily Walker
Greg Tantalus
The Hollywood Miracle & Don Cerrone
Jackie Baccaro
Solomon
Showtime: And
the winner is…Greg Tantalus.
“Hey You” by Simon Says kicks in as Greg Tantalus
coolly leaves his seat and approaches the podium alone to absolutely no
applause. After shaking hands with Showtime and accepting his award, the
three-time PWA Champion stoically looks out into the crowd and begins to speak.
Tantalus: Isn’t
this ironic? Isn’t it ironic how this Rebirth began with Greg Tantalus in your
good graces yet unappreciated, just as Showtime just said? While going through
a painful and costly divorce, and being exploited by Justin Schenck in the
process, I was criticized for not kissing babies and pandering to the crowd.
You all wondered if Greg Tantalus was done, if he was a shell of his former
self. But then, when I turned the tables, when I became the aggressor and the
exploiter, I was vilified. I decided to do what Justin Schenck did to me, and I
became the bad guy for it. I took a man named Vulture, who was fast becoming a
shell of HIMself, and I instilled confidence in him. His aligning with me
simply gave him and his family hope. Hope that took him all the way to the main
event of Everlasting Epic. But when his constant losing began to cost the group
as a whole, and we could no longer allow his selfishness, I once again was the
bad guy. Isn’t that ironic?
Well irony is a
funny thing. Irony has me once again facing off with Vulture at Everlasting
Epic. Once again, I’m the most hated man here, and I carry that into my
everyday life. But come Saturday night, I’ll give you all plenty of reason to
hate me. Because history will repeat itself as I leave Everlasting Epic with
Vulture in a crumpled heap — again. Except this time, he won’t get back up. He
won’t ever get back up. Isn’t that ironic?
The crowd sits in stunned silence as Tantalus turns
and walks off stage as calmly as he walked onto it, taking us to an
uncomfortable break.

COMMERCIAL BREAK --
We return to the ceremony with Mike Tortorici again at the front of the stage.
Tortorici: Well,
we have had quite the awards experience tonight. We have seen ejections,
interruptions, threats, all things that come with the competition and desire to
be the best in the PWA, especially four days before the biggest and final night
in company history. But right now, we are going to get away from all of this
uncontrolled testosterone and bring out the very lovely Traci Reed.
A wonderful ovation sets the stage for the arrival
of the PWA’s resident female reporter, who looks gracious to take to the podium
as she speaks in a different capacity tonight.
Traci: In my
time here in the PWA, I’ve seen competition at its highest level. Day in and
day out, everyone fights and scratches and claws for the opportunity to be the
best. As a woman here, I instantly admired the unbelievable efforts that our
ladies put forth and leave in that ring each and every time they step through
the curtain. Tonight, we honor the Female Performer of the Rebirth Era. The
nominees:
FEMALE
PERFORMER OF THE REBIRTH ERA
Jade
Keiko Ishida
Lauren Tantalus
Morgan Day
Zina
Traci: And the
winner is…Zina!
Aria’s “Demons” begins to play, and the
groundbreaking Russian competitor Zina rises from her seat to accept her award.
An enraged Keiko Ishida stands stoically as she watches her rival arrive at the
podium.
Zina: Thank you
Traci. Thank you PWA. This opportunity has been greatest achievements of my
life and I will complete legacy at Everlasting Epic. Keiko, Siberian Express
runs over you at the Citi Field.
She then points at Keiko and runs her thumb across her throat intimidatingly,
before cracking a smile and waving at her now-furious EE8 opponent as “Demons”
replays.
We now move backstage, where Nick Cade is with
Scythe.
Cade: I’m
currently here with the Modern-Day Samurai Scythe, and Scythe, it’s been a
relatively quiet night for you thus far, although you are up for a few awards
later in the evening. How do you feel on this night with Everlasting Epic
looming just four days away?
Scythe: I feel
great, Nick. My entire career, I have been the man who has flown far under the
radar. It was flying under that same radar which led me to the longest PWA
Championship reign of all time, and I’ll find the same success in four nights.
Cade: That could
very well be true. We will have to wait and see if you leave with any hardware
tonight, but I wish the best of luck to you.
Scythe: Thank
you.
Cade: Back to
Mike on stage.
As we arrive back on the stage, Tortorici once
again addresses the crowd.
Tortorici: This
is a very special part of tonight’s broadcast as I now get to introduce a man I
consider a legend in this industry and the greatest opponent of my career.
Ladies and gentlemen, Vulture!
“Falling From The Sky” by VAST kicks in and a
standing ovation greets the iconic Vulture as he walks out onto the stage and
up to the podium.
Vulture: Thank
you. I’d like to begin by first saying that, due to my utmost respect for the
men in this category, I will not use this as a forum to address the comments of
Greg Tantalus earlier. I’ll address him in my own special way inside Hell in a
Cell. Now, with that out of the way, my long career here has seen the fans hate
me, and it’s seen the fans love me. Sometimes, with our competitive juices flowing,
it can be very easy to lose sight of the reason we all do this: you fans.
(Crowd cheers) Performers here can impact fans in many different ways. Whether
it’s an autograph signing, a conversation at a coffee shop in an airport, or
just striking up a talk at a gym, these five men have always gone above and
beyond in connecting with our audience, and we will now honor one of them. The
nominees for Most Popular Performer of the Rebirth Era are:
MOST POPULAR PERFORMER OF THE REBIRTH ERA
Dan Crowley
Evan Black
Jaguar
Jason Calysto
Scythe
Vulture: And the
winner is…(opens envelope and laughs). We actually have TWO winners. For the
second consecutive time, Jaguar, Jason Calysto, come on down!
The remix to Ace Hood’s “Hustle Hard” with Rick
Ross and Lil’ Wayne hits, and a vociferous ovation welcomes both The Iceman and
Jaguar up to the stage, where they exchange pleasantries with their longtime
mutual friend Vulture. The award stands untouched on the podium as Calysto
begins to speak.
Calysto: I just
can’t seem to shake you man! (Laughs) Six years ago, Jaguar and I were also
named co-winners for this award, and I think I can speak for him as well to say
thank you, and it’s an honor to receive it again. Jag, it’s like déjà vu,
except for this being the last time history repeats itself between us.
Jaguar: Say what
you will, Jay, but I kinda like how these signs are all lining back up again.
We can go around and around with it all night, but you know and I know what
happens when Jaguar arrives to Everlasting Epic. This Saturday night will be no
different.
Vulture: (Interjecting)
What we all know, guys – and I mean both of you – is that you have been amazing
performers your entire careers. You are the greatest champions this company has
seen, and I don’t think I’m offending too many people when I say that we
represent the greatest trio of wrestlers this company has seen. It has been my
honor to have you both as friends, and may the best man win on Sunday.
After a brief moment of hesitation, Calysto and
Jaguar shake hands as Oasis’ “F*ckin’ In The Bushes” hits and Vulture grabs the
arm of each man and raises them high, creating a Mount Rushmore-like photo op
as we head to another break.
-- COMMERCIAL
BREAK --
As we return to Carnegie Hall, Mike Tortorici
begins his next introduction.
Tortorici: What
better way to follow three Hall of Famers than with another member of the
illustrious group? In all the years of competition, there has only been one
true Hardcore Icon. Ladies and gentlemen, Kerry Cox!
KISS’ “War Machine” thumps through the building as
the Hardcore Icon himself walks out onto the stage and up to the podium to a
terrific ovation.
Cox: Man. Just
taking a look out into this crowd puts this all in such a tremendous
perspective. We have truly come such a long way from the gym of Carey High
School, and this means so much to all of us. One of my favorite things around
this Rebirth Era has been watching all of the tremendous new talent coming
through the door and lighting it up in the ring. For the guys like myself, Mike
Tortorici, Bryan Conroy, on and on, their work lets us know that after these
doors close, the future of wrestling is still secure and extremely bright in
these folks’ hands. Here are the nominees for Newcomer of the Rebirth Era:
NEWCOMER OF THE REBIRTH ERA
Chase Stone
Evan Black
Juan Pablo Alvarez
Matthew Magellan
Zina
As Cox begins to open the envelope, a smug Chase
Stone stands up, ready to approach the podium.
Cox: The winner is…Evan Black!
Stone stops dead in his tracks and the PWA Champion
is in stunned disbelief as M.O.P.’s “Ante Up” hypes the crowd up for Black to
accept his first PWA award. He graciously shakes hands with Cox as Stone swings
the championship belt over his shoulder and stands fuming in the aisle.
Black: Let me
begin by addressing Chase Stone. (Holds up award) Chase, this is what real hard
work with no shortcuts can bring. (Stone holds his title up in retort) By now,
everyone knows my story. Leaving a successful practice to follow a dream is
something that not everyone would do. But I’ve always believed that hard work
is the true equalizer in everything in life, and I will continue to work harder
than anyone to accomplish every goal I can. Starting with tonight in the MVP
category, and finishing this Saturday when I reclaim the PWA Championship by
winning the Seven Deadly Sins match. To all the fans and my peers, thank you,
this means so much, and I truly appreciate it.
As Black exits the stage, “Sad But True” by
Metallica kicks in and a surprised crowd welcomes in Bryan Conroy to a standing
ovation! Conroy, who hasn’t been seen in months due to an attack from Solomon,
sports his right arm in a sling as he approaches the podium. The crowd provides
him a prolonged, cheerful welcome before he begins to speak.
Conroy: I hope
you guys didn’t think I would miss this night! One thing that this tremendous company
has always given us is amazing rivalries. Who could ever forget the battles of
Tantalus and Griffin, or Calysto and Jaguar, or Vulture and Tortorici? This
Rebirth Era has also given us some of the most incredible feuds we have
witnessed, and I’m glad to be here to acknowledge the best one. And the
nominees are:
FEUD OF THE REBIRTH ERA
Dan Crowley vs. Showtime Damon Savage
Evan Black vs. Solomon
Greg Tantalus vs. Justin Schenck
The Hot Boy$ vs. Texas Justice
SIN vs. The Absolved
Conroy: And the
winner is…Evan Black vs. Solomon.
Conroy’s speech is markedly unenthusiastic as “Hear
Me” by Darkseed plays and Solomon brims with cockiness along his march to the
stage. He waves to security nearby, insisting there will be no trouble as he
approaches Conroy to accept the award, as Black has already reached the
backstage area after his previous victory.
Solomon:
(Smirking) Don’t be alarmed, Bryan. I have no interest in harming you at all
tonight. As you can see by Evan Black not having the guts to be up here, my
damage here in this company has really already been done. Just look at what
happens to those who oppose me. Conroy, a one-armed man here. Let’s see, who
else? How about Briggs here? A man I have respect for, but tangling with me has
reduced him to a shell of himself. Nothing personal, but those are the breaks when
you step into the ring with the Alaskan Monster. And as I look out of the
corner of my eye, I see you, Mike Tortorici, a host tonight, yet another victim
on my mantle.
You see people,
this time, this company is coming to a close and there is no stopping my
dominance, no matter how many obstacles Justin Schenck has placed in my way.
I’m used to that song and dance, and there is no man here, past or present,
that I have not vanquished. So Evan Black, you are a thing of the past. My
current target is you, GI Jew. No matter who they put in my way at Everlasting
Epic, I will meet you and I will dismantle you before moving on to Seven Deadly
Sins and claiming what’s rightfully mine, the PWA Championship.
“Hear Me” replays as the camera closes in on a
tight shot of Solomon’s ice cold blue eyes and we head to another break.
-- COMMERCIAL
BREAK --
We return to the backstage area, where Nick Cade is
standing by with the reigning PWA World Heavyweight Champion Chase Stone.
Cade: Chase, we
saw you appear to be quite upset earlier when it was Evan Black, and not
yourself, named Newcomer of the Rebirth Era. What’s got you so upset, champ?
Stone: Don’t try
to get cute with me, Nick. Evan Black has always been a runner-up to Chase
Stone and the world knows it. The fact that he won that award was just to
appease him. If it hadn’t been for Justin Schenck holding me back for so long,
I would have taken that award in a landslide.
Cade: And how
was the award appeasement?
Stone: Simple.
Just like a children’s birthday party, Evan Black pinned the tail on the donkey
and that award was his goodie bag. What good is a newcomer’s award to me when
I’m easily the best guy here, period? (Holds up the title) This right here says
that I’m the best, and it will be a mere formality when I claim the biggest
prize of the night, MVP of the Rebirth Era. In the meantime, I’ll head back out
and get ready to add more hardware to my trophy room.
Stone brushes past Cade, heading off to the seating
area as the shot cuts up to the podium, where Scott Cornelius is standing.
Cornelius: In my
time here in the PWA, I’ve witnessed some of the greatest moments in all of
wrestling lore. But this Rebirth Era has provided some of the most memorable by
far. Let’s take a look at the nominees for Moment of The Rebirth Era:
MOMENT OF THE
REBIRTH ERA
Bishop Cross returns to the PWA alongside
Markus Krieg at the 2012 SOD to destroy Dan Crowley
Dan Crowley leaps from the top of a steel cage to retain the PWA title against
Anthony Failla
The Duval Twins revealed as Vulture’s illegitimate children
Evan Black wins the 2012 Symphony of Destruction and becomes PWA Champion
Michael Grieco & Dee Licious pelted with pies from the rafters by Matthew
Magellan & Jade
Scythe defeats Solomon in an Iron Man match with one second left at Everlasting
Epic VI
SIN and The Absolved brawl on Long Beach
Solomon chokeslams Evan Black from the top turnbuckle through the announce
table at EE7
Vulture turns on Jason Calysto in the 2011 SOD match to reform SIN with Greg
Tantalus
Zina defeats Juan Pablo Alvarez to win the Progressive Championship
Cornelius: And
the winner is… Vulture turns on Jason Calysto in the
2011 SOD match to reform SIN with Greg Tantalus!
With that, “Electric Head Pt. 1: The Agony” by White Zombie plays over the
speakers and both Vulture and Greg Tantalus begin approaching the podium. Each
is angered to see the other once reaching the stage. Vulture shouts at Tantalus
to go sit down while Tantalus points to himself, signifying that he should be
the one accepting the award. Vulture reaches the podium first.
Vulture: What the hell are you doing up
here? This is for Vulture turning on Jason Calysto. VULTURE. Go sit back down!
Tantalus: It’s for the reformation of SIN. I’M SIN. You’re a SIN reject. YOU go
sit back down!
At this point, Absolved members Morgan Day, John Wolfe and the Duval Twins
emerge on stage to stand behind Vulture, while Jackie Baccaro, James Biamonte,
Lauren Tantalus, and Dee Licious materialize behind Tantalus.
Vulture: I’m taking this award, Tantalus.
There are more members of that SIN reformation on my side than on yours.
Tantalus: Maybe, but none of you are in SIN anymore. WE are SIN. Give me the
damn award! Don’t make me break your neck four days earlier than I need to!
Vulture: Break MY neck?! What makes you think that I’M the one that’s coming
out of Everlasting Epic crippled?!
At this point, Vulture and Tantalus begin talking over each other, and
members of SIN and The Absolved also begin jawing at each other. With the
situation heating up, security is called to the stage to keep these two teams
separated. After a long, tense scene, security escorts all 10 individuals to
the back, preventing a brawl on the Carnegie Hall stage. However, amid the
confusion, Jason Calysto walks up onto the stage, approaches the podium, and
grabs the award!
Calysto: I mean, if no one wants this
thing, I’ll take it. After all, I was the victim here. And nobody wants to see
The Iceman play the victim. So I’ll accept this award for now, and I’m sure I’ll
be adding the Rebirth Era MVP award in a few minutes, but I’ve got another
award to claim on Saturday night. I WILL win the Seven Deadly Sins match, and I
WILL walk out of Citi Field the only six-time PWA World Heavyweight Champion.
With that, “F*ckin’ in the Bushes” hits and Calysto exits the stage as we
head to commercial.

BREAK --
The broadcast returns to Carnegie Hall, where Mike Tortorici speaks once more.
Tortorici:
Alright folks, we have reached the moment we have all been waiting for. The
biggest award of the evening is about to be presented, and here to do it is the
man whose vision has guided this entire Rebirth Era. Ladies and gentlemen, give
it up for Justin Schenck!
“Bounce” by Bon Jovi hits, and a huge ovation
greets Schenck as he walks out onto the stage, waving to the crowd before beginning
to speak.
Schenck: This is
a bittersweet moment, but as creative director, I choose to focus on the sweet
part of this night. Sure, we will not find ourselves quite like this again, but
being in this moment now has afforded us all the opportunity to just say thank
you. (Crowd applauds) And you should applaud, but not for us. Applaud
yourselves. It’s because of all of you that this Rebirth Era was even possible.
And I promise you, your support has not gone unnoticed. And you have no idea
how much it’s inspired me. But enough about me. It’s now time to name the Most
Valuable Performer of the Rebirth Era. Here are the 10 amazing nominees:
MOST VALUABLE PERFORMER OF THE REBIRTH ERA
Anthony Failla
Chase Stone
Dan Crowley
Evan Black
Greg Tantalus
Jaguar
Jason Calysto
Showtime Damon Savage
Solomon
Vulture
Schenck: And our
winner is…Anthony Failla!
A slightly stunned crowd sits in awe as “Better
Think Again” by Submersed hits and the massive Failla approaches the stage to
claim his prize.
Failla: You can
all wipe the looks off your faces right now, because the only person I’m going
to thank is Anthony Failla. Since the day the PWA ended the first time in 2006,
no man has focused himself more or has worked harder at his craft than I have.
I had the most dominant PWA Championship reign of the Rebirth Era, and I will
complete this era by winning Seven Deadly Sins and becoming the next and final
PWA World Heavyweight Champion!
Failla’s words are defiant and triumphant as he
exits, leaving nine other disappointed competitors in his wake. A spotlight
shines upon Mike Tortorici once more as he addresses the crowd.
Tortorici: Thank
you all for coming out and enjoying tonight’s Awards celebration! But remember,
we are far from done yet! There will be several PWA events at the Jacob Javits
Center this week for our amazing Fan Fest, and I hope to see all of you out
there and again at Everlasting Epic VIII! And ladies and gentlemen, to close
out tonight’s festivities, please direct your attention to the video screen for
a very special look back at the long, strange journey that’s taken us from a
high school gym on Long Island in the late ‘90s all the way to Carnegie Hall tonight.
Goodnight everybody!
